    Question After-Market Hood Install

Anyone have any tips for properly aligning a hood?

Jeff56 and I just spent 5 hours trying to install an after-market hood from one 02 to another. If we got it lined up properly... it wouldn't latch and if it latched it wasn't lined up properly.

    We finally gave up...
Yes officer... I am aware of how fast I was going!

    when I did my hood..

I made sure to run the hood bump stops down a couple of turns...the reajusted them as needed.....yours may be up to high ?

also the hood latch may be up to high also.......may have to loosen the two 10mm bolts on it to move it down a little to....

Tried adjusting the bump stops... didn't help. The opening between the hood and the fender is a bit wider on on side than the other and it dips down a bit on the passenger side next to the cowl.

I talked with a paint and body guy... and his opinion was if it latched and looked half a** good... I should leave well enough alone.

    Any other thoughts?

could try loosening the hood hinges and moving them to center the hood better....

also the one side that sits lower could be brought up by placing a shim in between where the hinge and hood meet.....

    which brand hood is it?

i've done quite a few hood installs to say the least

    stock to cervinis ram air
cervinis ram air to stock (while cervinis in paint)
    stock to cervinis after paint
    cervinis to keystone unpainted
keystone to stock (while keystone in paint)
    stock to keystone after paint
swapped a stock hood to my old cervinis hood on a 03 HD
swapped my keystone for unpainted harwood
installed the old keystone on a 00 HD today

still gotta yank off my harwood for paint.

i've had to do as little as nothing for the keystone to line it up, quick 15 minute swap, to 4 hours on my harwood of adjusting the latch on the hood, adjusting the latch on the front end behind the grille, adjusting the hinges to the hood, pulling the cowl adjusting the hinges to the body, adjusting the fenders, etc. etc. all depends on the quality of the hood. takes some fidding but most can be made to fit pretty nice after some tweaking

It's an Aeroform Cowl hood that I bought from jeff56.

It's on... but in severe need of adjustment.
