    Gas-Propane grill question

Heres the deal, a friend has a really nice propane grill that is almost new that she needs to get rid of because she is moving. I have natural gas at my house. Can I use natural gas on this grill? Ive heard yes and no so now Im confused.
    Thanks for any insight.

Yes you can. There is a small part needed to switch over iirc. WalMart should have them or Lowes/Home depot.

I believe that you will need an adapter for the regulator.

I think they are both correct. I think you have to change the orifice on the burner and an adapter for the regulator. Which ever store carries the grills should have the parts or just call the manufacture and ask them.
    Good luck!

I use to work on dryers and there were NG and propane dries. Propane flows at a higher rate so you will need a new regulator and the orfices on the burner as stated above. All other parts are the same...at least with dryers

propane and ng have different btu's...ng is less...so even if the thing is switched over, the burners more than likely never get as hot as they should...some grills will do both, some do ng and converted easy to propane....but for the most part, propane are propane specific...you can get them to light, but they are not like they should be....

and son...you are in texas...use wood/charcol let the yanks have the gas

Most things that run on natural gas will run on propane and vice versa. Like the other's said, it just needs "rejetted".

My grilles says that it is propane with natural gas conversion right on the front.

yes new pressure regulator is a must...but the holes in the burners/manifold for the propane are smaller usually since they burn hotter and have a higher pressure....it will work but will never get as hot...i also saw that natural gas needs copper/brass/galvanized or stainless...most propane grills use inexpensive mild steel that will rust out very fast with natural gas...natural gas is supposed to be more corrosive than lp

Many newer grills accept both, mine is a Brinkmann and it just has separate ranges on the knobs for LP/NG. I guess that's to compensate for the difference in flow rates.

There was a chain of stores called BBQs Galore in the DFW area IIRC that had everything imaginable for grills. Being a specialty store, they probably have more knowledge to help you along than the big box stores as well.

I'd love to have a NG hookup on mine so I'd never run out of gas in the middle of grilling something! Too bad my neighborhood doesn't have service....
