They guy that buys the F250/350 will be the guy that wants to pull a bike trailer that has over 2 bikes in it (room in the bed for bikes is tight...especially in a 01-03). Have you ever tried to tow anything with your 00-03 F150?....its got lots of HP but the 355 rear just don't get it...biggest mod I've made to date was to add the 4:10....made the truck come alive.

    apples to oranges

this is the biggest amount of trash talkin i've seen on this board ever. Of course this is pretty weak compared to every other board in the nation. In my 03 i have hauled everything from a 3100lb mustang to 10 ft copper conduit. Thats right, that fancy sliding window that no one likes acomadates all your oversized items, just slide em thru. But then again for long trips with the mustang in tow, I bring in the F-350 king ranch dually, no rear sag there. So if you want a sport truck that hauls *** as well as meet most of your towing needs, go with the f-150. If you want to haul tons of stuff go with the F-350 DUALLY. If you want middle ground go with the 04 hd's, they aren't fast(don't kid yourself, all that power doesn't mean good acceleration) but they haul just about everything and look good doin it.

    the end

Hey...don't get me wrong..I'm not diskin the F150...I've got one...and it has hauled 10K lbs (27 ft Searay)....had to change the rear and add airsprings...but I was surprised that it couldn't haul more without changes considering the nature of what the truck was designed for (haulin Harleys). I only hauled my boat a couple of times before I went and found me a 2000 F350 Turbo Diesel DRW...with the chip change and a bigger turbo down pipe...will crank out 400+ hp....and run all over top of most trucks out there. Decided to save my Harley F150 for cruisin...

All I need for 2004 is the F350 Harley emblems...I'll be set (beats payin $50K)...my F350 is a fully loaded Lariat 4x4 that I got for $20K (with 80K miles)....I'll have the best of both worlds.

Besides....haulin a 20 ft bike trailer full of bikes....is a bit more than 3K lbs....especially when you factor in the wind drag.

Actually...probably wouldn't put a HD emblem on my F350...but...if I wanted one that bad...cheaper than the $50K. I looked at the new one in Milwaukee....nice....but I have driven the 6.0 Turbo Diesel...and the 7.3 is alot stronger.

use that button, it helps make things less confusing ;)

    anyway,

but I was surprised that it couldn't haul more without changes considering the nature of what the truck was designed for (haulin Harleys)
the truck wasn't designed for hauling harley though. if that was the purpose of the truck it probably would have started out as a SD and not a f150. it started out as a sport truck, and since they did a survey and most harley riders drove ford trucks, they decided to give them the best of both worlds. Then that changed into more of a crew cab lightning, giving them the style and speed that opened up another market for ford customers.
moving the HD to a superduty is opening another market for luxury superduties, for the guys who need to tow and haul stuff and need 4wd and want HD's.

And why put HD emblems on a non-HD truck?

The 6.0 liters that went into the 03 super duties were pure trash. However, they have fixed 99.9 % of the problems for '04. Ford bought back my dad's 03 6.0l liter king ranch and brought him in an 04 king ranch. The difference...the 04 actually runs and better than the 7.3 by the way.

Don't know if I agree with you about which runs better...they both had the potential to run strong...the 6.0 didn't hold up well under a load (haulin something more that 3K), where the 7.3 was a proven engine. I haul 12K with mine...through the mountains at 80+ mph....no problem...I hope the 04 are better....
