    Avn7000

Anybody attempted/installed one in a Gen1 H-D F150? I am pretty sure they can be made to fit in Gen2 and SD, not sure it will even fit in pre-'05.

    It'll fit

Are you talking about the Eclipse head unit? I heard it isn't that difficult. It always says it won't on Crutchfield and etc. because you have to modify the chassis. I think all you need to do is cut out a small amount to make it ift. It is a snug fit though so you might want to leave this one to the professionals.

    Talk to...

2TonHog works at a shop that installs high end radios. He is very knowledgeable.

We were talking about the Pioneer z1 a couple weeks ago.

I am talking about the 7000 not the 5495. I know the N1, N2, Z1 will fit with a little trimming (albeit, still VERY tight). AVN5495, likewise, will fit tightly with some trimming. The AVN7000 is HUGE! What is it? ... about 2 1/2 DIN?

We don't sell Eclipse, but a good friend and competitor does.

That deck looks to be bigger than a double-din, but's a flip-out. Compare it to the AVIC-N3 and Alpine IVAD310...same size. When the screen is retracted, it's a din-deck...no deal at all. You'll have the goofy pocket underneath or on top of it if you use a standard installation kit.

Here's a side profile of this piece.

The Z1 and the other Pioneers and the Alpine IVADW200 are double-din and fit just fine, anything can fit with custom installation. Takes about 5 minutes longer to install a double-din than it does the regular decks, just because they have to trim the plastic a bit.

OK, thnx. I understand now. I was thinking the 7000 was not flip-out. With a 7" screen the chassis must be deeper? If so, it must be almost impossible to get it in there unless the back side of the cage is trimmed/removed?

I don't believe you have to trim anything in the dash to accomodate a deck in the top slot. The guys in the bay didn't have to do anything different to get mine up there.

I doubt the chassis is any deeper on the Eclipse versus any other flip-out monitor, tolerances are too tight behind many cars' dashboards to accomodate much in the way of changes. Screens are measured diagonally, so the 1/2" difference between this and most other screens really doesn't equate to much difference in the size of the deck itself.

I just installed the Eclipse 6600 in my truck. The dash was already trimmed from my last head unit that I installed. Everything went fine, there is even a dash kit availible for a double din hu in a din and 3/4 opening.

I have the the Eclipse AV8533 which is a single din, 7" screen, flip out like the AVN7000 but with out Nav. It is tight but fits, you just have to be neat with your wiring and you shouldn't have any problems.
