    pulley clarification

I'm not up on the HD upper pulley sizes so if one of you guys could "clue" me in I can make the mods list more accurate.

Does a 2.7" pulley make 2# of boost? and what are the other sizes available, thanks for the help........JR;)

Yes, I think that the 2.7 pulley is 2#'s of boost.

Basically we swap OUR pulley for the L size

I think (i very well could be wrong) that the asp upper is 2.8" and is a 2-3 lb pulley for the L. If that is the case, it should be a 4-5lb pulley for the HD since you are getting the first 2lbs back from losing the 3.25" pulley and then picking up another 2-3lbs over the stock 2.93" L upper pulley.

Thanks for the replies, maybe I should just leave it at the diameter for now, until I can get some definite answers. I will look into this ordeal for all......JR

    Silver...

    Jake is right...

    to be exact:

lower is 7.4... upper @2.7 would be 7.4/2.7= 2.7407 ratio...

to get the relative boost number on a stock L upper, that would be X/2.93=2.7407. X=8.03.

A JL 3lb pulley is rated at 8.17" according to the infamous blowerrpm.xls. That means that 2.7 should be right there...

BTW, who is selling a 2.7" upper?

    Vendor

I bought mine from JLP, but I got a 2.7 up top and a #4 crank but I only see 9 psi on the gauge. Thats with no slippage,I have 2 100mm idlers in place of the 90mm. Any suggesttions why?

Your 4#lb should measure 8.5 inches in Diameter that alone would put you near 10 on hte boost gauge. With a 2.7 upper in that combo you should be seeing around 14.

    you have bad boost gauge.

also if you read Ford Truck Performance Mag, they found that the stock airbox cost some boost/HP at higher levels. So if you still have the stock box, that may cost you 1-1.5 lbs.
