Smile Dec 2006 Truck Of The Month - Congrats to Frederick "bgstew6" Stewart! (NHTOC #277)

Congrats to Fred "bgstew6" Stewart on the final installment of TOTM of 2006. Stew's ongoing helpfulness to the forum and his 'all the above' modded 2002 HD (aka Black Hammer) wind up a great year on NHTOC. So without further ado, on to the questions.

Question # 1: What sparked your interests in the Harley trucks?
    Specifically your Black 02?

One day, back in 2002, I was cruising around in my 1998 Eddie Bauer Expedition. Now mind you I had done a little work to her….under drive pulleys, E-Fan, K&N FIPK, ported TB, exhaust and a chip with a semi aggressive tune….she was and still is pretty quick for what she is….anyhoo I pulled up next to a brand new 02 Black Harley at a light. I had never really looked into them that much, but figured it to be just a standard Super Crew with Badges and a nice exterior package….so I decided to give it a go and put a whoopin on it like I had done to so many other Screws before….lets just say I learned the hard way not to mess with the 02 and 03s after that. Getting my butt handed to me like that sparked the interest and from there I was on a mission as I had to have one!!!!

Question # 2: Any interesting stories behind the history of vehicles
you've owned leading up to the HD truck or how you got it?

Well I had always been a Ford Bronco guy since I could drive. I bought my first one when I was 15…a nice old 76 and got all into the restoration aspect. From there I had bought an 81, 83, 79, 86 and then a 96 Eddie Bauer. The 79-86 models all were fixer uppers and I dove into them from the frame up. Turned around and sold them soon after finishing them except for the 83…which I put 275k miles on when I sold it in 2001. My 1996 burnt up from a faulty cruise control later in 2001 and since Ford quit making them I went and bought the 1998 Eddie Bauer Expedition.

Question # 3: Give me a rough list of the mods that have been done to your truck.

I know you've got a lot done, so you can just list for favorites if you'd like! BUAHAHAHHAHAHHAHA Mods I don’t have any mods!!! I’m Stock!!! Seriously though, every mod that I have done is my favorite….as each one only I put on the truck and that’s what makes her mine. I figure I will list everyone that I can think of off the top of my head and I am sure that I will leave some out, and wont even include the ones that I have sitting here on the floor in the house or the ones that I plan to purchase and put on her later.

Question # 4: Tell us a little about yourself. Your other hobbies, your job, your favorite past time, whatever!

Not much to tell….did 8 years in the USMC, Semper FI!!!, Medically separated from USMC in 2001, currently still work for the USMC on systems integration, research, development and design of Command and Control Computers, Communications, Intelligence, Reconnaissance and Surveillance systems. Married to my lovely mod habit supporting wife and we have, little gear head in the making, our 5 year old son LiL Stew. Also member of the Harley Trucks of Southern California Chapter AKA “The BOC“ (Band of Crappers). Just another gear head at heart that finds great pleasure in getting dirty, slinging grease and turning wrenches on my or any other members car or truck.

Question # 5: You've been a member on the site for quite a while now, what is one of the best things you like about the site that keeps you around?

Too many reasons to list! The true Esprit De Corps common to all members here is second to none! The willingness to help a fellow brother out at the drop of a hat…whether it be a part, advice, or help turning some wrenches etc….and many times from people that you have never met face to face is truly phenomenal. No other site out there is like OUR FAMILY here. Yeah we argue, get testy, step out of line…but like any family always there for each other and definitely the best group out there BAR NONE!

Question # 6: What is one suggestion to help make the site a better place?

Tough question….as I find myself here everyday….and hours at a time….even the wife waits by to catch the synopsis of what has transpired and how the guys are doing LOL….The new look and feel of the site is so much better….More monthly Vendor specials is bout all I can think of at this time.

Question # 7: This is where I normally ask about where you decided on your screen name and any specific reason for choosing it?

Not much too it…BgStew6 (big stew) left over from a hotmail account a long time ago….I use it for everything….

Question # 8: Almost at the end, what is in the future for your truck?, so what’s the next plan of attack for your trucks future?!

Tough question also…amongst the bouts of delusions of grandeur and then reality kicking me in the juevos and bringing me back to earth…LOL Still pushing the stock block at way more boost than any sane man would, guess I just want to see where that little deamon lives out there on the edge. IF and when she blows….definitely a built block…then the tough decision….Turbo, Twin Turbo or BFS like a KB 2.6 or Whipple 3.3 if it comes to fruition. Simple real term mod will be the upgrade of the stereo…I have had the following stuff to install for a long time now but been too interested in making it go faster. First is the *** Cogged pulley system!!!! Then onto the stereo system consisting of: Alpine 9855 HU, Alpine CHA-s634 6 disc changer, Sl-80 Component Door Speakers (already installed), JL 12in Rear Center Console Sub, JL 300/4 and 500/1 Amps, Stinger Stereo/Amp Wiring Kits, and finish the sound deadening of the entire floor.

Question 9: Last and final question, just an open end question for if you had anything else you wanted to mention that I didn’t have a question for...here's the place to go at it! Your website link, a plug for something, etc. etc. whatever you want to throw in!

Special thanks to Big D and Nan for hosting the best site on the web! Thanks to my immediate extended family the BOC and thanks to all my brothers and sisters here! All you guys make this site what it is….Keep on Keepin on!!

Again, Congrats to Stew on the December 2006 NHTOC Truck of the Month. You deserve it chief.

    Bob
