Is there anything wrong with using regular 5w20 castrol oil; not synthetic? What about the "ford motorcraft synthetic blend" they sell at autozone; is it OK?

the Ford Motorcraft synthetic blend is what comes in the trucks straight from the factory...it is also the oil the manual recommends. if you can get it at a good price (i.e $2.50 or less a quart), then go with the Ford Motorcraft 5w20.
don't know anything about regular castrol except that they make some dumb commercials.
Welcome aboard. Crappy oil would be Penzoil or anything by that company. Motocraft oil is fine, just change it every 3000 miles. I would think that would be the same for regular castrol. I am sure there will be more opinions coming so stay tune, lol.
I use Motorcraft semi-synthetic 5w20 in my 2000 and haven't had any trouble. It is a little over $2 a quart at Walmart.
for $40.00 you can get royal purple (synthetic) and K&N oil filter. U will keep her happy
wow, that is a pretty good find...the cheapest I've seen around here for royal purple is $8.00 a quartOriginally Posted by 87national
man I always pay $5.00 qrt during summer and about $5.60-$6.00 in the winter.
hmm...my motor's got enough miles on it now, can switch to syn, but maybe i'll just go to the ford semi-syn stuff. i change it every 3K or every 6 months, whatever comes first (usually 6 months lol)
