    Question IRR Recall

Well, the big green weenie is chasing me down. I'm sure you know about the involuntary IRR recall of 2500 Marines that George W. has authorized, and I'm one of the few, the proud.........the recalled.

Figure this one out: I have a 40% disability rating and block 6 on my DD214 (Reserve Obligation Termination Date) says 20060508.

How the heck did I make the list?

yepper...if you have done your 8 you should be able to tell them to piss off.

Edit and how short does an MOS have to be to call back a disabled vet....sheesh. If they are that desperate, there should be a helluva re-up bonus.

Yeah, if I have to go, I have to go. But one of the reasons I left was because my body was having trouble keeping up. Seems odd that out of 59,000 Marines in the IRR, my name got pulled.

Gotta love the left and right hands not knowing what the other is doing. As a LCpl, I was brought up on UA charges until I showed them that I was on orders to another duty station.

So true!! I had to chuckle when I called the Mobilization Command about receiving these orders.......they had no clue I was collecting disability.

Nope. In fact, they asked me to send out my VA paperwork related to the disability. Then said their Corpsman, who had set up a doc to look at the med records, was the only one who knew who the doc was. Oh, and the Corpsman was on leave and they couldn't get in touch with him (bad recall information). Corpsman finally came back, the doc looked at my records, and determined that I was still good to go. They said I could send them other medical information that might make them reconsider, so I saw an Orthopedic Surgeon today. He believes I'm non-mission capable. We'll see where this goes..........

Yeah, tell me about it. The firm is being really cool, but I didn't expect anything less. A lot of the upper level guys are former military (probably 70% of them) so they know the drill. Basically told me that even if it wasn't the law, I'd have my job waiting for me when I came back. The crappy part is that I'm in a fast track office to the big bucks and the recall would put me 12-18 months behind for promotion. IOW, I should be promoted in about 18 months and now I might have to wait. And just bought a new house. Hell, I'm still unpacking.
