In the AF you can be a First Sergeant as an E-7 and up to an E-9. You have to volunteer as an E-7 and stay a "Shirt" if you choose. You rank determines the size of you squadron you run.

Kromdom is correct for the most part on MSgt being Technical but 1Sgt is more personnel (Human Resources) issues than Admin.

Krommie's got to much time on his hands.

So does that make you a 7 8 or 9?

In the Navy, only three ranks have stars in their collar devices: Senior Chief (E-8), Master Chief (E-9) and Admirals.

Currently a Senior Chief, going up for Master Chief next month. BTW, I am very efficient in time management...so I am able to get more time in my hands

What do you do out at WTI? A real close friend of mine is out there driving Harriers. Don't suppose you know Hefty, aka Capt Bardo?
