Should be running in about 2 weeks... I do miss my HD! Driving a '93 Honda Civic just isn't quite the same sensation.
Transmission pan question: I have seen the increased capacity numbers for the aluminum Moroso pan (#42050) as 2 quarts (per Summit website) and 4 quarts (forums and websites). Moroso's website doesn't say.
So, which is it, a 2 or 4 quart increase?
So basically to boil the thread down to 1 post..
Cryo treat all gears and do the red clutch disks and the FTVB...
and your good...
Right???
Well for what it's worth... After 36,000km's (22,000mi) i had lost 1st gear when under full load. It would just jump out of gear totally. Pretty un-nerving to say the least. I took it to one of our local tranny shops that i have used for many years and trust totally. He pulled the tranny and found a few worn out parts. The clutch pack was completely shot, no clutch material left on the disk pack, sprag gear cracked, and drum bearing race was galled due to spinning bearing inside the drum. WTF!
Now my truck is laying down some pretty impressive #'s on the dyno (457rwhp 557rwtq) but this tranny should have been able to take a little more abuse than that wouldn't you think? This is the same tranny they put behind their diesels.
Well now it shifts perfectly since the rebuild, new parts, FTVB, deep sump pan, and 19 liters on Amsoil synthetic to the total rebuild tune of $2950.00 CDN.
So take it for what it's worth. More power = $$$ down the road.
I wouldn't have it any other way though... luv that truck.
Cheers,
