    Exclamation noise in supercharger

    Hi,
This is taz03'hd and I recently bought a 03 hd about a month ago. When we got it home I noticed a noise coming from the engine area.So I asked my neighbor to come look and he thought it my be the idler pulley. So we pulled it off and got new bearings and put them in and the noise was still their. We think that it is in the supercharger, because when we had the belt off we started the truck and the noise went away. When you drive it and come to a light and put it in neutral it some what goes away. Also when we had the belt off and we moved the blower pulley back and forth it had some slack in it.I need to know if anyone has had the same thing happen or if you know what is wrong.

    Thank You

    hmmmmmm

if you can grab the blowre pulley, which is pressed on the shaft...and it all moves...sounds like the SNout bearings are bad, or the SC coupler, its a little black (stock) peice that ties the Snout shaft to the rotor gears may be worn out....

Is it the stock SC on it? Is it black? Does it have any words like SVt on the of the blower next to the SC oil fill port.?

Thank you for replying. The pulley of the blower is not what has the slack it is something that has to do with the shaft that turns the blower like there is a bad bearing

The truck only has 30,000 miles on it.The blower is the original.Do you know if there is bearings inside that hold the shaft.

    got a warranty on it?

take it in and have them fix it.....you will get a new sc as they dont rebuild them IIRC...

Or if no warranty check out rollingperformance.com for a rebuild kit

How loud is the noise?? If it only occurs during idle and goes away during a slight acceleration with the brake on, then it's just cavitation!! Neutral will sometimes idle higher and make it go away too!

Seems normal when mine does it!!! Just very low RPM for the rotors. No harm!

    thought the same thing

Me thinks it jsut might be the Coupler, somehow got hogged over as that is the slack that I think he is refering to.....grabbing the snout pulley twisting it to and fro and having alot of slack in it.....

What mods are on the truck if any? You got a 6lb lower on it ?

    Hey Dillon,

The noise is loud enough to be annoying.Yes it goes away at the lights if you put it in neutral, hold the brake while in drive and it gets louder.
