Comprehensive Gauge Install - How To

The Autometer Gauge install article is up for Project JAKD. The article is very comprehensive and includes everything you need to know from start to finish for first time installers. It covers guage fitting, POD prep and paint, wiring, drilling, tapping, tips, etc... I hope it helps

Just installed some more gauges this weekend. As most of you know there needs to be slight modifications in order for an overhead POD to fit on the newer SD's with an electronic mirror. I will be writing a full "how to" to include how to remove the mirror, extend the mirror harness, and notching the overhead POD.

POD Installed (note the extended harness):

    Looks good Bear,
Im needing to install a few gauges myself. Dont really want to do a pillar pod. And I didnt want to try and mod up an overhead pod since I have the power mirror too. Im glad to see you did it, Im definitely interested in seeing your "how-to". My overhead is different than yours tho. Is it because I have the sunroof? I dont have any storage just the 2small lights and sunroof switch?

    Matt,

I don't think the type of overhead would matter when installing an overhead POD. The POD has tabs that go underneath your headliner and the rest of the POD is velcro'd to the windshield.

Here is a better pic with the mirror properly adjusted with the addition of an eyebrow to hide the POD when viewed from the outside.
