Newbie thinking of switching L to HD

    Hello all,

I am wondering if some of that had a Lightning that switched to an HD could help me with my decision. I am in the process of getting rid of my 00 L to go to a 03 HD with very low miles. My main reason for switching is because it looks nicer and more room.

P.S. I am also a little worried about the performance. My is completly stock and it was fine for me for 5 years. Now I am thinking some mods or an HD with some mods pulley, chip filter.

    What do you guys think?

Glad to see ya made it....welcome aboard...

What works on an L will work on and HD..

good proven mods: 6lb lower, some new plugs gapped accordingly, TUning device, custom dyno tune, FTVB and dont forget the oil seperator, will make ya smile for days.....

Suspension: new shocks, rear sway, a drop in the rear and some better tires other than the Crapyears and handling will be much improved....

The sky's the limit, what do you want her to do

Thanks for the response. I did not get the truck yet but it is looking pretty good.

Can you please explain what a FTVB is?

If I could get the truck to be equal power with a stck Lightning I will be happy for a 1 month or 2 but would really like to spice it up to maybe mid to high 13's

A buddy of mine has some parts waiting for me either way HD or L.

    Here are the parts:

Pulley combo which = 15 psi
    Diablo chip
    intake filter
    throttle body

FTVB more popular choice for Aftermarket Transmission Valve Body made by Factory Tech hence FTVB. LFP and JLP have one as well. Improved shifting ie quicker shifts and firmer the more you hammer the fat peddle.

6lb pulley (9in) (12lbsish total) along with a good tune will get ya into the 13s., traction bars, good track prep and slicks

Predator or XCal II tuning device would be better IMO...(can datalog, read and clear OBDII codes) install new tunes easier.

SBTB may give ya a couple ponies and a little snappier throttle response at the level you would be at....

Save the money on the throttle body and get you one that is ported and polished! Got my ported Heaton in to 12.60's with the added benefit of, not alot on my truck when it ran 12.6 so every little bit counts and every dollar you can save and still make up for what you were looking for is a win win.

Contact JJ@Woodbine Motor Sports 410-259-8737 he sells them (where I bought mine) already ported and polished. You could of course do this yourself as well.

ALSO WELCOME TO THE BEST HARLEY TRUCK SITE!

    Harley,

I was able to keep the L stock because I am building a Cobra 427. Now the build is almost coming to an end.

I have a neighbor putting together one as well, he is using the Factory 5 kit.

Need to file them screws a bit more and make the transition over smoother.

Wish I had some pics of mine to show off! JJ did an AWESOME JOB on it you can't even tell the screws are in there it transitions so nicely.

Epoxy on the thread side and smooth out.
