Cool Show me what HU i should get

okay, 1st off, i know NOTHING about audio stuff. absolutly nothing at all, so don't break out in this fancy audio talk and terms ;t

I want to do a system at the end of this month. 2-10's under the rear seat in a subbox, all new door speakers, whatever amp, and i'm thinking i'll also do a HU and get everything over with at once.

Here's what i want in the HU.
NOT flashy at all, the more stock looking the better. i hate the gaudy looking HU's with a million little tiny buttons and lights and stuff on the screen. i want something plain, simple, and VERY stock looking. less chances for getting stolen too. preferibly black.

    thats basically all i want.

o yeah, i can't use the stock 6 disc can i? would a new 6 disc fit in the stock location without any cutting or whatever?

Thanks for any suggestions or at least links where i can start to look for what i want

I would go with a Alpine HU.IMO Alpine makes one of the best HU's.HU is one of the most important item when building a system.......

okay, i went through all those HU's at the link. didn't like most of them ;t
all too flashy for my tastes. why doesn't anybody make a plain HU?

anyway, didn't really like any of the alpines how they look, i did like a few of the kenwoods....
this one isn't bad, but still too busy or something
    http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...300#morephotos

this one is aight too, but i'd rather have all black than any silver
    http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...300#morephotos

this is probably my favorite HU out of them all. very plain and easy to read. doesn't look super cool, but i like it. and its all black so won't stant out begging to be stolen.

if thats a decent brand HU, and a good model, like will it hook up to a 6 disc CD changer, etc. i'd really like to go with that one.

    thanks for the help!

You can use a Sony with Active Black Panel.Total black when turned of no buttons or anything. When you turn it on it lights up and you can use it with the remote control.

Then open the faceplate and it's a regular looking radio. There's a couple of them just look in to them,if you want CD or CD/MP3.

yeah, those look pretty good too.

is the panasonic one a good brand/model? i really like the simple black and green. matches the stock stuff pretty well.
i was just reading the info on that one, and it says it can be used with a panasonic 6 or 8 disc CD changer. would either of those fit in the stock location? i'd really like to go with that HU if its a pretty good one to go with my 2-10's and all new door speakers when i get them.

    Thanks!

will the 10 disc changer fit in place of the stock 6 disc changer? or will the console compartment holder thing have to be cut to fit?

any reason for not liking panasonic? just curious....sorry for all these questions. like i said i'm a dummy when it comes to this stuff

I don't know where you have your changer now.I have a 2003 HD and it had a 6 disc in dash changer.I have a 12 disc and 6 disc Alpine changer in my front console, and still have some room in there...........I didn't have to cut anything at all in the console.

I would personally stay away from the Panasonic HUs. Main reason behind it is sound quality. But then again, sound quality is subjective.

Alpine HUs would be my recommendation http://www.alpine1.com
Since you want a blacked out face, you have a limited selection.

    Eclipse would be next.

Yeah panisonics are not the best. Sony's are good. But you are going to need something with a Front, Rear, sub output.

Josh I did call him last night and told him that I will make him a list of what we are going to need and he was cool with it. Some of the stuff he will have there and some he will order.
