Question Need help with lowering the rear...

Ok here is the email I've sent Ground Force:
I bought the ground force 2/5 drop kit (flip kit) for my '08 Ford F150. After I
had it installed it I decided to reverse the flip kit in the rear because it was
too low and the truck rode on the bump stops making it too rough of a ride. I left the front drop portion of the kit on. Now the front still has the new
coils making it 2" lower and the rear is back to factory height. It looks
terrible. What is the max rear drop I can get with out flipping the springs
under the axle again. I put on a friends 2/3 shackles and it is still 3 1/2
inches higher than the front. Please help me. What products or advise can you offer to help? Thank you.

    Their reply:

You would need to change the leaf springs (3018) or put the flip kit
back on and install our air shocks (70064).

Ok...I do not know alot about lowering a truck so someone please help explain to me what the best option for me is. Please remember not to use big words...LOL Thanks!

those sound like good options, but it seems you need some room for wheel travel. IMO, get the leafs.

A couple guys, have the 2/4 kit, which is essentially a new set of leafs ( pry one leaf less) so it lowers the truck a bit more but not a s drastic as a 2/5. A few guys have pics of the 2/4 kit installed. still a bit too much rake for me.

going back to the 2/5. they do have the kit with airshocks. ( old school)
Consider the airshocks, adjustable. but you'd have to flip the rear springs , again, but on cruise night, you can drop it low and be chillin.

    heres sman's black 07 w/ the 2/4 drop

here's mine with the 2/5. and yes theres about a one inch gap on the bump stops, but the roads here aren't that bad and I'm careful. if it hit too much, I would put biscuits there. so consider if it had airshocks, you could jack it up where you want.

It had the lifting shackle but it wasn't enough.

I went ahead and bought the 2/3" drop shackle and installed it 2 nights ago and like I said it wasn't enough. I am just wondering if I can use them in conjunction with either a 3" drop leaf or 4" drop leaf. Any suggestions?

I did not think about that but either way the rear is lower than the front and I don't like that and when I add a cover it will be more weight on the rear thus dropping it some more.

I'll take a pic when I get home this evening of the axle to bumpstop clearance on my truck with just the 4" drop leaf.
Great I will be looking for it! Thanks!!!

looks like a c notch is the best way... keep in mind if you just put in the coils they will settle up to a 1/2" more...

Ok Ground Force has replied back to me and said the leaf springs would drop the truck around 4 inches. He said to use it solo. But is that a requirment or a suggestion. I may if I can want to use the bottom hole of the shackle and drop it another inch and a half. Can any suspension guroos speak up here? Can a drop shackle be used with new leafs that drop the truck around 4"?

    Thanks for all the input!

If you want it 4-5" lower in the rear and you want it to ride with out bottoming out, just c-notch it.

Here is how it looks with the 2/3 inch shackle installed...

See the pic of the shackle as well. Can I remove the block between the axle and the leaf spring and that drop it?

Sman what is the difference in the leafs? Length, thickness or what?? What make it drop the truck 4"?

maybe you can flip the bolt on the top of the shackle and have those tabs extended...

that would probably give you enough drop...

my jlp 2 3 4 on my 03 hd sits flush with the top of the bed pretty much.. and the bolt kinda has to go in 1 way...

just extend those and see how that works out...

and remove that spacer below your leafs..., that should be good enough i would think...
