    Belt squeel? with sniper tune

Did the sniper tune, should have done this along time ago! No major mods to my truck (magnaflow muffler, k&n panel) anyway couple of issues. I have what sounds like belt squeal at WOT after the truck shifts, its a highpitched noise and I will try to get a Youtube video tomorrow and make it a lot shorter than my last one! Another issue is I hear what sounds like pinging type noises when the truck is accelerating, tried to do the recon datalogging but that didnt work and will ask sniper tuning about that. Seems like a really good product if you have the time to get to know the program.

the belt squeel will go away if you get an aftermarket idler pulley.thats pretty standard after increasing hp.
the pinging means" STAY OUT OF BOOST "until a custom tune is made for your specific setup.I'm not familiar with sniper so there may be a way to pull some timing or add some fuel to help get you by

Absolutely do not run in boost until you get the pinging dealt with ASAP.

the squealing coiuld be coming from your acc belt on the shift as well.

most guys experience it when upping the boost..but in this instance you didnt up the boost.

Did you change your transmission shift settings at all?

and yes...get the detonation taken care off!! ASAP

I originally had the shift settings on firm but reduced it to mild (stock mild firm race are the options) and im still getting the squeal. Just reduced the timing 3.5 and will see how that goes for the pinging. Yes stock boost, I plugged 6 pounds into the sniper thats all I could find on here as far as how much boost is stock, I dont have a boost gauge. Could I repack the stock idle bearings to help with the squeal or get new ones?

i would think the squeal is from the belt slippage... atleast on my cobra it made the squeal from slippage..

and ping?? i thought that was good..

I experienced the same slipping sound when I went to a 6# lower, it was the acc belt. Switched to a gater - no more noise. The pinging on the other had is BAAAD - get some more fuel to that girl ASAP.

Reduced the timing to -4 and its running great on 87 no more pinging and minimal belt slippage. Just put the 93 tune on and filled it up (4.39/gal!) its also running good, no pinging on the sniper 93 tune may even be able to advance the timing a little bit.
