Ok. Some of you know I ama detailer here in the Uk so I thought you might be interested in a job I did a couple of days ago.
We got the call from a company that has one of a very few Eleanor Mustang replica's here in the UK. They had a show to go to this Bank Holiday Monday and needed it looking better than factory.
When we got there, it didnt look bad from a few feet away but on close inspection, you could see swirls and RDS on the black metalflake stripes and up close with the Brinkman, they could also be seen in the silver.
So first it was out with the Super Snow foam and we left it to dwell for a while to help remove as much of the surface grit as possible.
Once fully washed using two bucket method and Mother's lambswool mitts we took pictures of swirls etc...
So afterwards, it was out with the Sonus clay and the whole car was done.
We then followed this with using the Porter Cable and spot pads.
On the black paint, we found the only way to shift the paint problems was with Menzerna Power Gloss. Paint thickness readings were showing upto 820 microns on most of the panels compared to on average 120-150 on modern cars. The paint job on this was exceptionally thick.
After Menz PG, we then hit the rest of the car with Menz I.P.
Happy that the swirls had gone...
All that was left was to apply a layer of 3M Perfect-it II Hand Glaze followed by two coats of Collinite Concour's D'Elegance as the client wanted longevity and good beading. He had been recommended the product by a fellow classic car owner so we obliged.
Once done, our attention turned to the wheels which had painted centres but raw alluminium rims. The alloy had clouded over quite badly and the client had mentioned that he was always envious of other Eleanor's as they had shiney wheels.
Well one tub of Mother's Polishing Pad later and they were majorly better. Once done, they were coated with Collinite Metal Wax to preserve the finish and hopefully stop the oxidization.....
Then it was off to a local spot for some 'after' pictures for us and some publicity shots for the client....
Enjoy...
