Stock HD 2003 looking for more power

    Hello All,

I have a 2003 HD that is bone stock except for a K&N filter. I wouldlike to know what simple mods I can do to get some more power.

Is it worth gutting out the cat ? I understnd that there are 4 of them. I have been hearing about a chip setup/ what do you guys recommend?

    Also pulleys which ones?

I am looking for alittle pep but not enough to damage anything.

I would go with a ftvb, 6# lower pulley, and a handheld tuner depending on what your local tuner uses.

I agree with GreyHD. but when you get it dyno tuned make sure your tuner disables the transmision learning feature. That is my only complaint about the FTVB. I didn't have the tuner disable that and now the FTVB shifts like a stock tranny unless I drive the truck hard for a little while then its back to shifting like I want it to. But don't forget to add an Oil Separator also. Need to get your Intercooler cleaned and then keep it clean with a good Oil Separator like the L&S. (supporting vender on here).

99.99999999999% of owners will say FTVB is WELL worth the money, and one of their favorite mods!

FTVB, ram air intake, dyno tune, 6 lber, clean the intercooler, change plugs, let the mods begin! (& the searching!)

Good thread we got going on here. I want to mod my truck but i didnt know where to start. I guess ill have to get the FTVB soon since that's a highly recommended mod. I already have a nice cat-back from Borla and apparently I'm like one of a few that has it on their HD truck. My only real question is where or who to buy parts from.. I found a few site that sell parts for the truck but then I wonder if its a reputable company.. any advice?

I agree with Harley 356 those are the must have and it will wake the truck up. I also run a lightning upper with those mods. It helped buying the truck from speedin bob. He has been around the block a time or two with two prior gen two lightnings, and tastefully moded hawglet yet she is very reliable. I'd drive her anywhere no hesitation. Common comments in her at WOT is holy s&%*.

    Mods..to start...in order...my thoughts

    Phase 1
L&S Oil Separator IMHO this should be your FIRST mod.
Handheld tuner - Stock 93 octane performance tune

    Phase 2
    Clean the I/C (Intercooler)
    NGK-TR6 Plugs
    Coil Pack Screws
    6lb Lower Pulley & Belt
Tuned Canned 93 octane pulley tune or better yet dyno tune.

    Answers:

Clean Intercooler (I/C)...Pull the Eaton S/C, remove the I/C
After 1/2 dozen cans of brake cleaner it's clean and re install.
    NOTE:
With the I/C off is the "best" time to change the plugs and add the coil pack screws

    Phase 3
Factory Tech Valve Body for 4R100) FTVB, OE 4x4 Pan & New Filter
