    howdy new owner of an 02 southern california

    just wanted to pop and say hi... just purchased a clean 02 with 70k on it...

    previous owner installed a jdm engineering exhaust...and some kind of a shift kit...

    loving the truck so far...changed the plugs and im stock piling everything i need to change all the fluids...

    The best parts is...i've had it 7 days and its already been broken into...they took my pioneer avic d3 navi, oakley sunglasses, cell phone charger, 2 dvds, brand new jeans, and an old dirty shirt.

    well as long as I have the truck i'll be floating around here... im already a member of svtperformance.com

    it happens... I had a bagged 02 XLT a few years back...that got broken into in vegas...I almost deserved that one for being so stupid... traded that truck for an 07 lariat...had the navigation in there for 2 years... parked where-ever never had a problem...get another 02...and not even a week later... I can look on the bright side...you get comfortable and forget to protect yourself and this happens..wakes you up.

    yes sir... I've already installed a steering column boost gauge, diablo sport is in the mail... and as soon as I can find a decent cold air for a good price...it'll go into GTR Hipo for a upper pulley install and dyno tune...

    well I just went for a little ride (picked up some mobil 1 gear oil...$$$)

    I just installed my boost gauge yesterday... Tonight was the first time I've punched it since install...im getting a solid 12-13psi....so im now im assuming i've got a #6 lower pulley... the upper sure looks to be stock... Now that im really paying attention...the lower looks aftermarket... its held on by allen bolts and they sure dont look oem...


    now I need to figure out if it has a tune or is chipped or what?

    Welcome aboard. Where in Socal? Pics? Sorry for the break in. You can look under the passenger side to see if you have a chip. If you don't have one then you might have a tune from a hand held tuner.

    high desert (victorville/hesperia area)... No pics yet... I have dealt with hand held tuners plenty (have a diablo for my 98 cobra) and chips with my honda...but never dealt with a chip on a ford...I know where the computer is...do most of the chips install inside???

    and if it does infact have a tune loaded via a hand-held... is there anyway to verify that? I do have a diablosport on the way... And if I remember right...I cant load a new tune if the original oem tune is not there?

    Usually if there is only a chip, you will see it on the outside of the computer. Now if the stock chip is still in place, you cannot load another tune. Can you find the previous owner? Is it still under warranty? If it is and you can have the stock tune reflashed by the dealer.
