    2005 HD stock rim cracked.

One of my rims cracked in 2 places at the bead. I didn't hit anything and the Ford dealer said it is covered. They are doing the paper work today.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Ford is sending an rep out to look at it and they want to see the truck too. The cost on the rim to the dealer is $1,106.38.

You must have really overinflated the tires

My guess is that they had air bubbles in the casting or it didn't cool right and developed small cracks that got bigger once you put it under stress. As for the cost of the rims, the mfg can set any MSRP they want, the true cost is likely pretty cheap. You can buy reps retail for a fraction of that and you can bet that Ford gets a better volume discount than we do at the local tire and wheel shop!

You might want to ask them to dismount all 4 and closely inspect the others for cracks just in case. Don't want to see you have a rapid leak or a complete wheel failure at highway speeds.

I have the truck in the dealer getting that done now. My new wheel came in Monday.

UMMMM....I posted on here saying the exact thing happened to me. For me though it was not covered. Ford wants $1300 a wheel and they are VERY hard to find aftermarket in polished. That when I went the 22's and 35's...

Had my factory wheel fixed and sold the set.

for reference- if vehicle under warranty and dealership or regional service rep says "not covered" and you believe it should be then take them to arbitration. Will cost a couple hundred, most of which is reimbursable from Ford and will take some time, but definately worth it- speaking from experience.
Too many folks just accept the BS and walk away.
My sign is avail for a nominal rental price,
