We welcome you back to another installment of TOTM! We almost had Father and Son awards back to back….LOL…….So without further adieu:

TO all who shall see these presents, greetings, this is to certify that NHTOC is proud to present the NHTOC TOTM Award for June to: Slick “Sport90” Katz NHTOC, Member #103 and his DSG 2002 SuperCrew #9735. It’s always an honor to work up the TOTM awards and get to present them to the members here but this one is a little more special to me, in that I get the privilege to present an award to a Prior Service Marine (35 years, Col USMC Ret) and one of higher rank than I . Slick, as all members whom have received the award, was recognized by the family here as deserving of this award and justifiably so! Another prime example of a dedicated family man…..dedicated to his own Family, His Country and his extended family here! Slick has been a member her for quite some time and although he may not post that much, he is always around providing help when needed to members here and contributing to what makes this site!

Congratulations Sir, Bravo Zulu
Semper Fi!

Question # 1: What sparked your interests in the Harley trucks? Specifically your HD Truck?

Oki (my oldest) was 1st to bring up Harley trucks and that was what he wanted. At the time I was looking to change vehicles, saw a 02 DSG on the road and that was it. I was hooked and found a dealer who had one- actually he had 2 and I flipped a coin on which one I drove off the lot.

Question # 2: Any interesting stories behind the history of vehicles you've owned leading up to the HD truck or how you got it?

Other than the normal family rides, have owned a 55 Chevy, TR3 with a 258 stuffed under the hood, 68 Chevy with a 348 & trip deuces that I actually bought from a little old lady who had it stored in a garage, and a 1970 454/450 HP Chevelle convertible. Last one had 4 studded snow tires mounted on the car. Previous owner told me it needed all 4 studded tires to keep it on the winter roads.

Question # 3: Give me a rough list of the mods that have been done to your truck. I know you've got a lot done, so you can just list your favorites if you'd like!

DM-R Tilt Hood; DM-R/Cannon Exhaust from headers to tips; 6lb Pulley; a lot of Chickenears pieces; Phoenix Imaging Burlwood interior pieces;

Question # 4: Tell us a little about yourself. Your other hobbies, your job, your favorite past time, whatever!

Retired Marine. Enlisted June 1968, commissioned June 1977, retired Halloween 2004. Yes I’m a little older than most, younger than some and with a few years in the Corps can say “Been there, Done that”. Currently working for a defense contractor, enjoying life and in my spare time head up a veteran’s organization

Question # 5: You've been a member on the site for a while now, what is one of the best things you like about the site that keeps you around?

This is a repeated theme from past TOTM’s- It is the Primo place to get answers about anything going on with the truck, hear about what other mods folks are looking at/doing and just sharing the enthusiasm associated with owning a Ford HD. Also getting midget porn from Stew.

Question # 6: What is one suggestion to help make the site a better place?

Had to think about this and upfront I’ll say everyone is entitled to their opinions, but when discussion turns to one SV vs. another it should be closely moderated. Good or bad comments about products/customer service are helpful, but at some point discussions cease to become productive.

Question # 7: This is where I normally ask about where you decided on your screen name and any specific reason for choosing it?

While on Okinawa owned a 1990, Harley 1200 cc Sportster. Perfect bike for an island that’s only 65 X 3 miles.

Question # 8: Almost at the end, what is in the future for your truck? so what’s the next plan of attack for your trucks future?!

The Beast has about 85K miles on it. Have done some performance mods, but mostly cosmetic & bling bling. At some point in the future the plan is to go with a built motor. One of three things will drive that: I’m forced into it because of a major engine break-down; I hit the 100,000 mile mark and think it’s time; or Oki is busting my chops about how fast his Shamu is and I’ll have to one up him.

Question 9: Last and final question, just an open end question for if you had anything else you wanted to mention that I didn't have a question for...here's the place to go at it! Your web site link, a plug for something, etc. etc. whatever you want to throw in!

Two things- Membership here is great- knowledge base and willingness to step up and share is incredible.
Second- On a different note as we just got past celebrating Memorial Day, I’d ask the members to take a look at the USMC/Combat Helicopter Association website USMC/COMBAT HELICOPTER ASSOCIATION.. Not looking to add to membership, but the site has a huge photo archive with over 5,000 pics which is a great source of historical data and perspective from those that have served in Marine Rotor-wing Aviation
