question for those lowered and also what tires

    Ok gang,

Had the truck serviced and it appears I am in need of 4 new tires....

The backs i know have been given some grief due to some drag strip action but the fronts have worn very quickly on the inside due to some serious camber issues since the 2 1/2 inch drop.

On looking to adjust the camber, the lower arms seem to be wound in as much as they can be..Has anyone done any mod or is there an off the shelf fix?

Also, on replacing the Pirelli Scorpions, what other options have people gone with. The cheapest I can get the Pirellis over here in the Uk for are $1466 for a set of 4 delivered but not fitted. Thats $366.52 each.....

Tire Rack are listing them at $219 each but I am gonna get stung for shipping to the Uk I know it.....

    Any help would be great.

    Kev

Kev, did you get your front end aligned right after you dropped the truck. I got mine done right after my Ground Force 2/5 drop and after 15000 miles the tires still look new!

    J,

I got the truck lowered at JDm when they installed the upgrades. I would have hoped they aligned it then. Obviously not....
Doesnt look like there is any room for movement in the lower control arms though so they may have adjusted them as far as they could.....

On the gen1's, the LCA's aren't adjusted. The UCA's are adjusted with camber bolts to set the alignment. I'd imagine the Gen 3's are pretty similar.

There are camber bolts for the Gen 3's. I had them installed with the GF 2/5 and the tires are wearing fine.

Senor Mike at Riverside Auto. I don't have the Ford part# off hand. I had them installed 2 years ago. Some peeps said you can get by with one set of two, but my installer said I needed four. The Ford ones are beefy.
The Pirelli Scorpions are good tires, but so far I'm happy with the Wanli 265/40's up front, which give the truck a nice rake and they cost me like $150 mounted balanced each. And Falken also has the 285/40/22 which should be decent on a lowered truck, I have seen them on Range Rovers. I'll try them out later.
Nitto 420, and a few other companies make the 285/40's

sorry Kev, I just looked thru my receipts and in the garage where my oem parts are, and I couldn't find Ndebts receipt for the camber bolts. you may want to try a google of ford parts and search under camber bolts.
    good luck.

Have checked with Summit and they list this kit...

    Eibach 5.86240K - Eibach Alignment Kits – SummitRacing.com

Does this look like the stuff you had fitted?

The Ford kits is just like the Gen2 camber bolts, but this Eibach system is pry just another way of adjusting the negative camber on a lowered truck. has anyone else seen this type of kit before?

That looks like a pretty funky setup. The cam washers look the same, but thats about it.

You said the Gen 3's take the same camber kits as the Gen 1's?

The Gen 3 camber bolts I ordered from Ndebt were basically two huge bolts with offset washers. I am gonna look for a pic somewhere....
ebay has these for a Mark LT, but these arenot like the ones I bought...

If your still looking for tires try Goodyear Fortera's in the stock size. A huge improvement over Pirelli's

    Musik

Как всегда, в начале дачного сезона, начинается какой нибудь бум.
Вот и сейчас, все мои знакомые помешались на биотуалетах.
Так что это такое и удобно ли это? Вопрос очень интересный и требует изучения
