So I don't need to cut them. Just hook them together? I don't leave my P/Lights on I just want my fogs to come on with my auto on.

No. Do not cut them. Leave them connected to the harness, and then connect them with a short piece of wire. Once again tho, if you ever DO need to leave on the park lights, your battery would drain faster since the fogs would be forced on too... With a switch you can turn the fogs off...

    fog light modification

;f Yeah, i just spliced the 5 and 12 wire together and now
the fogs come on when ever the parking lights come on, A whole
lot easier than taking the switch apart to file the ramp down. I apreciate the information on how to take care of that problem, another advantage, now when you lock the truck the headlights and the fogs blink.

    VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:

lots of places, especially the main link say "#2 & #12" that is WRONG..

as several of the other posts here ahve said is is

    #5 & #12 quick taps.. all done

I tossed 4 fuses following the website where it said the other combo before I got pissed & got the volt meter out & figured it out for myself.

Works great... final "real mod-time" 30-45 seconds afteer the switch was oout.

    Well... not actually...

Some are doing a "fog light mod" where you are still required to pull the foglight switch to the out position to activate the fogs... (This also requires creating new ramps on the housing in the new positions...) If you are going to do the mod where you file the ramp down, and have the knob pull out to turn on the lights, then you need to splice #2 and #12...

And yes, if you do not unhook your battery cable while doing the #2 to #12 splice, it will blow the fuse. It still works with the fuse blown though...

If you want to activate your fogs when ANY lights are on, (without filing the ramp, and pulling the knob...) you need to splice #5 and #12.

If you want to make the mod "reversible" on the fly, or switchable, you need to wire a switch between #5 and #12...

Well, I finally did the fog light mod today, but it didn't turn out right. I spliced the #2 & #12 wires together because I don't want the fogs to come on everytime I turn the parking lights on. I want the option. My #12 wire had already been tapped into for my gauge lights.

Now when I turn my parking lights on, the headlights come on too. This is when it is in the parking light position. WTF!! Fog lights work too, but they already com on together from the factory!!

Here are two pictures of what my setup looks like.

What the hell? Why are my heads coming on when I have it in the parking light position??

    Please help!

It looks as if you got the wrong two wires... Look at Krix's pic...

I think it SHOULD be the YELLOW wire and the brown wire...

Be SURE to double check the wire numbers... they are marked on the harness...

ohhhh.... if you do #2 and #12, (different colors)... you MUST do the ramp filing....

I think.... the #2 wire is the white/black one in YOUR pic...
