    Fog Light mod "How-To"

It would be nice if someone could post the How-to on modding the switch for the headlights so the fogs come on with the auto. headlamps. I know Josh has a switch but I just want the fogs to come on with the headlights at night.

So tools and instructions will be great help.

Same info as above, only this one has pics!

Remember, just splice the #2 and #12 together, don't cut them from the switch... that was the mistake I made!!!

very tedious work with a little file. I put a 1/8" drill bit in my dremel and used it as a cutting tool - knocked this out in a few minutes without taking the switch apart.

Isn't there a way I can splice the fog light wire to the headlight or parking light wire so the fogs come on with the heads on auto?

Now that is the easiest, most basic way to accomplish this task IMHO. I just headed to the garage and knocked it out in about 10 minutes. It just takes the dremel and a steady hand.
    THANKS for this excellent suggestion!!

no pics, but I think if you take the switch out and look in it with a flashlight you will immediately understand. Its really simple.

Just a little info guys, this mod doesnt work on all Harley trucks. Mine was delivered to Canada and has the DRL's (daytime running lights). When you do this mod as it shows in those links you will find that if keeps blowing the fuse for the lights. Have not found a way to do it without putting in a extra switch..So be warned, check and see where your truck was to be delivered to before you start..Good luck..Scot;sfus ;sfca

Cool!!! I tried this this weekend. Worked great!

I wired a switch from Radio Shack between wires #5 and 12, and mounted it below the headlight switch.

There's no need to file the ramp if you use the switch! With the Radio Shack switch in the on position, the fogs will come on if the headlight switch is in any position. Of course if the headlight switch is in the off position the fogs are off too.

With the Radio Shack switch, the head/foglights work like stock!

    Thanx for the input guys!!

How do I determine the #5 and #12 wire? Does anyone have a picture? Do I splice the 12 into the 5 or the 5 into 12 or do I just hook them together?

The wires are numbered on the plug that cannects to the stock switch.

If you splice them, and do nothing else, then your fogs will come on whenever your parking lights are on.

I thought that this might be a battery drainage problem if I needed to leave the parking lights on for an extended amount of time.

So, I feel it's necessary to use SOME method to turn the fogs off separately. You could add the ramp cut ion the stock switch, or... wire in the Radio Shack switch to "create your splice.
