I have a 2008 F150 Harley AWD truck with 16302 miles on it. Last week I heard a whining noise, took it to the dealer and they told me that my “pilot bearing” might be bad and that there is a service bulletin for it.
My question is I tow a 8x18 carmate trailer with a Jr Dragster in it (about 300lbs) do you think I caused the tranny to go by pulling the trailer?
Not sure how much the empty trailer weighs but it can’t weigh any where close to 5000lbs.

Pulling the trailer did not break the truck.I used to pull a 24ft enclosed car trailer with a Race car and gear and no issues.Mine and probably yours also has the tow package factory installed.Is it S/C or N/A.I have heard things about the AWD and S/C and trans not living.Warranty should cover it.The 08 have a longer powertrain Warranty I think it is 6/60,000 miles from the factory.

Do you tow with the O/D off?
Thanks for the info. Love my truck, but not happy with Ford not giving me a rental.

It was the #9 torrington bearing. appartenly that is what the service bulleltin is for.
Dealer said should have the truck back by Thursday.
