    Bilstein shocks

Does anyone use Bilstein shocks? I've lowered my truck and have rear bottoming-out problems. I cut down the bump stops but still had problems.
I did install an air-lift kit and it did stop the bottoming-out but now it rides higher from the rear. Not to mention the bouncing at every bump. I heard that by installing those Bilstein shocks w/extending brackets will eliminate the problem. Has anyone done this????????? If so, what's the shock and brackets part numbers????????

Get yourself a set of those... The ride will be great, and no need for the extending brackets.

I LOVE the difference in the ride on my truck since going from regular lightning bilsteins to those!

Would be helpful to know what components were used to lower it? What's the overall front/rear drop height? Sounds like you are currently running stock shocks and no shock extenders?

Guess the Original Poster must have been a little reluctant to post up his specifics in the thread, no reason to. Anyway, his Belltech 3/4 kit consist of 3" drop coils and a 4" shackle/hanger kit. Unfortunately, he has nitro-drop shocks, which are likely the biggest cause of the bounciness in the rear and most likely a bit of overall harshness in the ride too. A set of Bilsteins will improve the ride dramatically and a set of shock extenders to get the shocks back to their correct angle and range of motion, and will also increase their life expectancey. If he doesn't have one, a rear sway bar would further improve his rear suspension.

    Lightbulb

I too have been doing research into changing my stock shocks (120k) which still ride OK. I have looked at the Rancheros, KYB Gas Adjust, and the Bilsteins.

What is the difference between the normal recommended Bilsteins for the F-150 Harley and the "L Spec" (I assume Lightning ) Bilsteins everyone rages about? I will not be lowering my truck so does it matter?

    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks...Jim

I believe the regular ones are designated Heavy Duty (HD) Shocks and the L Spec's are designated Lightning Sport Shocks. There is also the Bilstein HPS 1000's which is supposed to be designed with Hotchkis Performance in mind, but also optimized to give a more comfortable ride than their sport shock. To me with the HPS 1000's you trade off some sport handling, control and cornering for a more comfortable and smoother ride. So basically Bilstein allows you to choose your own poison, so to speak, based on your preferred style of driving.
