so its been alittle while since i worked on the harley. had to do some work on the L to get ready for tomorrows track rental! i was going to install the hds daul pass h/e in the L since i had to drain the i/c tank and install a jlp one. but i decided not to just incase something was to happen to it. i got the race gas in, plugs changed, mad coil screws installed, fuel press. gauge hooked up, wide band a/f hooked up, oil changed, and fuel filter changed!

oh sorry i thought it was ok to post off topic chit in others threads lol!!!

it all starts somewhere!! You know that! The L started out as just a truck to demod, toss a stock engine in, and flip for some cash! And look where its at now! LoL! You know how the addiction works!

I know thats canadian dollars, but still makes me feel a little better about here lol. We paid around $250k for the place, comparable houses with 2 car garages in this area were 300-350k which was beyond our budget.

    Anyway, PROGRESS ON THE GARAGE!

Electricians came yesterday to swap out the service panel. After the initial quote for the panel, and installing the new outlets, fans, lights, and electric baseboard heater I couldn't quite swing all that with our budget so I told them to just do the panel for now and I'd figure the rest out later. I mean I am an EE afterall lol but I HATE doing house wiring, not my field of expertise at all lol. Well, since they were there on the spot and didn't have anything lined up for the afternoon, he gave me a killer deal on everything at once and I couldn't say no! Huge thanks to tpr103 for hooking me up with Holiday Electric. Joe and Joe Jr. definitely took good care of me and did an incredible job on the wiring. VERY clean work, and I'm ultra picky when it comes to wires and clean work, but they certainly impressed me. :

And now that thats done, there's nothing keeping me from insulating and sheetrocking now other than lack of time from finishing up the bathroom! lol I'm tiling the floor today, grouting it tomorrow, and tiling the walls Sunday. By wednesday of next week the bathroom should be DONE! Then I'll work on the garage for a few days, then start up refinishing the hardwood flooring the following week just in time for us to move in by the 31st

Pics of the new electric handiwork soon!

Our last house had a single car attached garage that was really narrow, so when we moved here I built this garage. Did everything myself except for the concrete floor and the soffit/facia. Came in around 12k CDN.

I'm a firm believer that you can't have enough electrical capacity. Replaced the practically new 100 amp panel in the house with a 200 and put the 100 in the garage. Plenty of capacity in the box to wire 220V for industrial heater/welder. I also put in a 20 amp circuit for heavy duty tools. All I need now is a large capacity compressor.

I wanted to build it 22 ft wide but could only get 18 ft wide with a 16 ft door and went 24 ft deep. The extra depth is good for storage and still provides ample room for long vehicles.

My project car is at the fabricators right now (that's what the fenders on the right side are for) so I decided to start parking the truck in the garage. I'll be able to do this for a few months, but the project will be back in the garage before winter for installation of new front and rear suspensions and the truck will be outside again. (Maybe I should rethink the project, huh?).

Looking forward to more pics of your project. I need ideas on how to finish the interior and coat or tile the floor.

    Nice size for a project!

jonolds72, I'm rethinking using the sander for the epoxy after doing some research on them. If the prep is done well enough with degreaser and the prep chemicals, it seems the rougher texture of the concrete would be a better surface for the 2 part epoxy to adhere to than a smooth one. And from what I've read the bond-lock stuff by Quikrete makes quite the fizzy reaction with any grease or stains and does an awesome job of cleaning up the floor.

I wouldn't mind doing two "runners" of some diamondplate black rubber or vinyl tiles though so the truck is driven and parked on those.

A bit of a rougher texture is better for epoxy to adhere for sure.

I have a few oil spots on the floor that I'd like to clean up. Does this product take them out or just neutralize the stain?

I've started looking at the diamond plate rubber tiles for the whole floor. What product are you looking at?

Man I feel for you guys that only have 1 car garages for options on housing. I can't live without anything smaller than a 3 car garage down here in TX. Most have 2 plus but in the newer neighborhoods you are seeing more and more 4 car options or dual 2 car setups.

thats what i used the sander for, i used 8 grit to scuff up the concrete, when i was done sanding it it looked like i took a grinder to it, but in my case there was lots of crap on the floor that degreaser wouldn't take care off
