I have installed the craftsman separator, it was $24.00 at OSH, would imagine it would be the same price at Sears.
I will check it today and see how it held up to my trip to L.A.
Yes the Amflo Seperator I have on the HD has a plastic bowl

Okay, just finished installing my first mod...this oil separator. I followed the instructions by Venom. Unfortunately, I could not get the 3/8 size oil bowl, so had to use adapters, which made it long and clumsy looking....will this still work? I'd like it to look a bit cleaner, but for now I'm hoping it'll hold up to its job. What you do think?
**if I could just figure out how to attach a photo...***
Okay...who can now help me attach a @#$%^&* photo?!

I installed mine yesterday. Can't believe how much is already in there with only 75 or so miles!!!
I'll be paying attention to how much it fills up, but can't understand why some folks says it will slow down (IE decreased "consumption" for lack of a better word)
the filter media becomes clogged and eventually will stop up, If you have one with the Brass Filter Media make sure to pull it about every oil change, remove the Filter (by unscrewing it) then cleaning it with some Carb Cleaner.
That was my experience with it at least..
I am not sure as to what you can clean that plastic looking filter with.... as I had one with a plastic filter and it clogged up and I canned it and replaced it with an AMW Oil Sep

MMMWAAHAAAHAAAA!!!
FRANKENSEP is ALIVE!
I actually don't know how, but it's still working...for now. I have not needed to empty it more than a couple of times, and not knowing how come that is...exactly. Shouldn't it function the same all the time---like having to be emptied out all the time, as CSR mentioned?
Anyway, its almost at 45,000 KM's so when I take it in for maintenance, I'll ask the SVT guy what he thinks.
should be emptying it pretty regular....Like I said before...that filter is probably clogged as soon as I got rid of that setup and put on the AMW can I am back to emptying the AMW every week and getting about an ounce out of it each time.
Or you drive like old people F#$K!!! LOL SLOW AND SLOPPY
Sorry could not resist
but driving style will have a lot to do with it as well.

Looks like I will be draining that thing every other day!!!!
Only had the truck for a month. Still grinning from ear to ear!
CSR,
Welcome . Yeah that feeling never fades, ,,,,, and if it starts just slam that pedal to the metal Sir....
what about the PCV on the other valve cover? When you disconnect it, rev the motor, it pumps out oil residue also.
Has anyone thought about the idea of running a drainline to the frame area near the gas tank with a T valve so when your filling you can dump the oil ... in a cup of course.
It is just as easy or would be as easy to stick zip-lock baggy underneath the Sep. and drain it in to that..

I just unscrew the bowl and dump it back into the motor
Nice write-up. When I run the roadcourse in my L, I can lose a quart in a day. So this small guy won't do much. Is a bigger unit available or can you run 2 in parallel? Some say that these water seperators stop working after a short time. Is that true?
Thanks,
Den
