Ok...maybe I am dense....and maybe pedal position has nothing to do with my 2000 HD.....but just what is it?
If you have adjustable pedals, one must bring them up off the floor a bit. This is to achieve full throttle response.
Guess mine are not adjustable.....except by moving the seat forward or back *lol*
You would have a switch on the left lower dash.
I guess Smoak wouldn't be able to use his powercoolerOriginally posted by Mako
The track closest to me does not allow you to run with your tailgate down. If you show up to the track without one (with it removed) that is ok, but you can't put it down when get there. Reason: Too many rednecks forgot to take the cooler of beer out of the back and when they took off from the line the coolers would slide out, break/open and leave water all over the starting line. Also had spare tires, lug wrenches, etc. left all over the line!!! ;t
The really sad thing is that I am COMPLETELY SERIOUS!! Pretty funny.

Here is what a spent my Sunday morning doing. I figured the cooler would be better at insulating and cheaper than aluminum. I do not care that it is hideous because I am only using it at the track.
I decided to put 10 bags of ice in it and drive around to see how it was. In an hour of crusing the ice was completly melted!! I guess you could say it works.
By the way it was 98 degrees out when I tested it.

power adjustable pedals werent an option in 00
just pull the floormat out, and SMASH the gas
unless you are running slicks, do not lower your tire pressure in your radial tires, you will actually get worse traction. it will cause the center of the tire to lose contact with the road and will also cause your tires to absorb a TON of heat and wear fast on the edges. keep them inflated!Originally posted by CaliHarley

when u ihad my tires at 35PSI i spun every launch.
Lowered it to 25PSI and was getting 2.0 60ft times.
so how does everybody launch ?
i have an 03 HD, and sometimes i shift it down to 1 and then go from there, only thing is i cant figure the right times when to upshift. seems like if i miss the proper rpm the truck does some big hesitations before i shft it up, then it corrects itself.
or is it best to just leave it in drive the whole way?
The general consensus is drive with the over-drive off.
definately leave it in drive, and although it shouldn't be shifting into overdrive at WOT in the 1/4, most turn it off just incase. throw a FTVB in ther and it will be shifting faster than you ever could make it do by manually changing the gears. the truck knows best when it needs to shift
now for burnouts, i know quite a few L guys do their burnouts in 2nd gear. gets the tires spinning up faster, higher gear = more speed = more friction = stickier tire and quicker burnout and less likely to bounce off the rev limiter as doing a burnout down in 1st gear
I have a 2000 N/A and sometimes I have taken off in 2nd gear.....and is it ever dead in that gear.....just an observation....
2000 HD - F&N Cold Air - SuperChips
600 Watt on 2 10"s
2001 FXDL - Big Bore 95" Screaming Eagle - Dyno at 104 rwhp and 103 rwtq
definately dont want to launch in 2nd!! lol....always launch in drive, and it will start in 1st and shift by itself.
for N/A trucks i'd still say do a burnout in 1st, or better yet in drive so it will shift rather than hitting the rev limiter, but for HUGE power trucks putting down 400+/500+ burnouts in 2nd gear is pretty common
