First attempt at port and polish

Sice I came into the Harley truck game late, all that which is new to me is old news to alot of members. Here is my first attempt at porting and polishing. It was cheap, easy, and satisfying therefore I enjoyed doing it.

I recently talked to Todd about him doing my plenum since he said he has made some specialized tools. I was gonna dremel it but I may let him do it instead. Also thinking about blasting the plenum to polish the exterior.

looks great man! I usually stop at the porting part since the polishing doesn't really add any more flow and I'm fed up at that point haha, but damn that looks purdy! Almost too nice to stick back on the truck and hide it with an intake elbow....who needs a filter anyway

Thanks. Maybe I will just put some pantyhose over the oval and use that for a see through filter. haha

This might seem like a dumb question but is this worth the trouble? She sure is sexy!

Worth the trouble? I dunno but ATT paid me well to do it(on lunch break of course) and I enjoyed it. I like working with stuff like that and if it looks good in the end then it was worth it to me even if for minimal gains. I may polish the exterior in the not too distant future.

its a free mod other than your time and dremel bits invested, so its worth it. Doesn't add a whole lot by itself, but combine it with a ported blower, ported plenum, smooth intake elbow, and a ram air intake, it all adds up and works well together.

I'm about to port the plenum and I am waiting for the right time to get a blower case and then i will have all the pieces of the above mentioned puzzle to pacify me until upgrades are needed.

I've got a spare blower case in my shed if you want one to fiddle with. Its my buddys, he'll sell it cheap. Its a 99 case but you just need to drill 2 holes in the flange to line up with the 01-04 style manifold

I recently read your post stating that it is best to leave the porting to a reputable vendor or else you could end up losing horsepower. I agree. How cheap?

yeah personally I wouldn't do the blower case myself, I'd let steig or one of the other vendors do it.

He'd probably sell the 99 case for $50 if you were interested in it though. could always poilsh the outside and then send it to steig for porting.

I would do $50. Steig might even send me a 2000/later one without having to drill the 99.
