Well its been looooong overdue. I've been in the 10's for 3 years now, so its finally time I get with the program and get the safety modifications up to par. Technically I only need a 6 point rollbar, and I don't really plan on turning the wick up anytime soon unless somebody actually gets close to nipping on my heels in a HD truck. I'm just enjoying its current combo running low-mid 10's, but eventually I'll break that 9 second barrier and update my humdrum 5 year old JLP stage 3 combo and mediocre sized 2.6 KB LoL! My Weldon fuel system can certainly support more power, I only want to do the cage once and have it ready for when I do take it to the next level.
Joe Gambino of Precision Fabrication is doing the work. He did a 10 point cage in Dave London's '08 Shelby GT500 that runs 9.5's on a stock longblock, and soon to shatter those times After seeing his work in person I was sold on the spot. The welds are absolutely phenominal, the trick touches everywhere are ingenious, and the quality is top notch.
Only ONCE have I ever dropped the truck off overnight for work, which was tuning at JLP's, so normally I'd be really nervous about leaving my baby lol, but seeing the quality stuff that rolls out of Joe's shop, I actually feel comfortable and know it'll be killer when its finished. I'm confident in saying it'll certainly set the bar for any cages done in Harley trucks...no pun intended
I'll update this thread with progress pics as it comes along. It'll be done by spring, so hopefully every couple weeks I can update with some new photos. Here's the initial teasers from dropping it off last night...
Joe even made me leave the truck outside before bringing it in to park so he could make sure the floor under where the truck would be parked was swept!
TLC from the moment the truck got there.....covered it up right away to keep any dust or dirt off the truck, so its just as spotless when I get it back as when I dropped it off
Oh yeah we ain't playing around no more....little sneak peek of the other serious rides in the background getting tube chassis, cages, etc. done up.
Can't wait to see the results of Joe working his magic! Stay tuned...
