Will my luck ever change!!!!!!
Well here's what I'm used to guys, I just spent 2203.81 dollars on my truck at a very well know, extremely expensive performance shop and after a week of waiting I get it this evening and took off work early tonight headed home to see my lil girl and it blew a head gasket!!!! Just my luck. Just another typical day for me I guess. Now I have no ride again. There's no tellin what this repair job will cost!!!!!
It been raining the last few days here so after I picked it up from the shop I couldn't really get on it so when I got off at midnight headed home the roads were pretty dry so after I got out of the town of Gulfport it was time to give it a shot. I was running about 125 with my foot still in the floor when all hell broke loose. So I coasted off the ramp and into the gas stayin and popped the hood. At first I thought I blew a plug but I looked at the oil separator and saw the oil was now chocolate swirled lol, and the dip stick was the same.
So here's a list of what the shop did for me:
1 Cleaned Intercooler
2 Egr delete
3 Re worked the exhaust that the other
shop messed up( cat deletes)
4 Valve cover gaskets
5 Ftvb install with new pan
6 install 6lbs lower
7 their custom CAI and mass air
8 Removed 2.8 s/c pulley ( previous owner) which is for sale btw
Installed stock lighting pulley
9 new spark plugs
10 Dyno tune 395hp/490tq
11 Boost gauge( I was lazy on this one)
12 new general grappler 295/45/20 worth 803 bucks on top of the 2200. That's 3000 right there plus the tuner was 250, Ftvb and 6lb lower and plugs from mike was 540, so close to 4 grand and im stuck in the middle of nowhere at 230am!!! What next, probably a reduction of force at work and I'll be job less and truck less.. Ok I'm done venting now!
So can anyone give me some idea of what to do now that the head gaskets blow and an idea of what kinda cost in lookin at? Thanks guys

6 lb lower, 2 lb upper, and WOT at 125 mph You had a DEATH wish for that truck, and I'd have to say its no fault of the performance shops, other than not putting a speed limiter on it. I'm going to guess you didn't have OD shut off and it shifted into OD and thats when the gaskets popped? You're lucky you didn't blow the entire motor.
General rule of thumb....never got WOT at a speed higher than you'd be in the 1/4 mile

Why do you think it is the head gasket? Circumstances like that usually take out the rods.

why didnt you just spend that money and put a built motor on it?? thats crazy!!
if you want your luck to change, i suggest you just get a built shortblock bc the way you driving, that **** will just happen again in no time. a built shortblock you can find for $2700-$3400.
hope you take this bad luck timing and make it into goodluck!

I gotta agree with everyone on this one. Those mods WOT at 125 something was going to go. If its the head gaskets consider yourself lucky.

Think y'all are right. I headed to the shop now and the guy on the phone said it more than likely a rod. Hell I had to see what she had lol. I'm pretty sure most people would after they just had work done to it, at least one time anyway.

Been there before with a 99' Mustang GT and a one off TurboCharger set up. Cost me a lot of money to rebuild the first time, then didnt give it enough time to break in after the build and it threw a rod on the way home... Towed it back to the shop. Mechanic said it peaked for some reason at 18lbs of boost when it was only tuned to 8lbs... So he fixed it for free and cost of parts.
Now I save the top speeds for my 1400 crotch rocket.
