Wheel Stud Grade / Class?
Does anyone know the grade / class rating of the 14mm x 2.0 wheel studs?
150lb/ft (per the owners manual) seems high for the nut torque and I would like to look this up in my Thomas Glovers Pocket Reference.
Thank you so much!

Spend about an hour on the net trying to answer my question, all official information says 150ft/lbs, many other owners are concerned this is too much, and one guy lost a wheel (all studs broke) going down the highway.
ISO Class 8.8 for a 14 x 2.00 stud is 133.5ft/lbs, can’t imagine Ford using any greater strength studs and so much of these parts are imported, and who knows what the quality control is like.
So… for me, I’m using 130ft/lbs and will be putting a label on the inside of the center caps with this value.

Metric Grade 8.8 is equivalent to SAE Grade 5.
Metric Grade 10.9 is equivalent to SAE Grade 8.
SAE threaded Wheel Studs are grade 8 material. Metric Studs are grade 10.9.
A Google search will verify this and on numerous occasions I have put studs in my Lathe for modification, they are both a bitsh to machine.
150 lb/ft (or ft/lbs depending on whose chart you are looking at) on an M14x2.0 would seem to be comparable to the 154 lb/ft spec'd for a 9/16-12 UNC Grade 8. .551" vs .5625"
However, this is with DRY THREADS. when lubricated, the torque spec. can drop as low as 77 lb/ft, depending on what lube is used.
The reason they are spec'd so high is that wheel studs are not intended to be lubricated. A Google search will confirms this in many places though I could not find the official SAE document.
Two sites with good information:
