the interior almost made me puke.. And yea that truck isn't worth it. They are asking for way to much money for a truck that you can probably find for about 1000 to 2000 more and in better shape.

You may need to re-phrase your first post as I'm having difficulty interpreting what you mean. Do you want the back end to be a different shape or do you just want to be able to spin out in it?

I'd keep looking, especially if you're interested in one that's already SC'd.

Yeah, I detail a lot and that hasn't even been touched. I guess I was looking through that a little. My '01 that is posted in the "Finally detailed thread" wasn't too spectacular when I bought it but it looked pretty decent when I sold it. I noticed that the clear was starting to check on the hood and down the side very slightly. Is that normal on these trucks?

I will hold out for a decent one. It's amazing how many people think they have a nice truck for sale and claim it's stock then send pics with different leather seat covers and all the dash kit crap. lol

Hey guys just had a dealer call with a fresh trade in on an '01 Harley that is really clean. It only has 87k miles too. Not sure of price just yet. I hate buying from dealers seeing how I like to buy and sell myself but it looks nice. Whatcha think?

The interior reminds me of junkyard cars that have sat with the windows open or broken and been exposed to the elements. The rusty bolts could just be people with snow/salt on their boots getting in, but the wipe marks and smears all over indicate that it was really dirty inside.

PS-to evaluate accident damage, check under the hood and look for weld marks or seams on the fender mounts, cross brace where the radiator attaches and so forth. Also, the VIN number is labelled on the body parts (mine has white sealed labels on the fenders), if they don't match the VIN, they they aren't original. One fender replaced isn't too concerning, but both fenders, hood and some extra seams means it was in a major wreck and patched up.

As for the SC decision, if you drive slowly and don't care for speed then it's ok to stick with the non-SC. They get a little better mileage and use a little cheaper gas. However, if you like a little shot of adrenaline from time to time, then go with the SC!! Mine has been very reliable and tons of fun. I would have no concerns about jumping in it and driving it across the country, while doing a nice burnout or two along the way!

Check our classifieds and some of the Lightning sites, enthusiasts usually take good care of their rides. Plus you can search by their names and look for posts like "crap, just drove it into the lake" or talk about other things that might make you want to avoid their vehicle.

Good luck finding the perfect truck!

the interior on that second one looks super dried out, and the carpet looks like what I'd expect a `55 f100's carpet to look like, not a 2001 f150!

a nicely modded 2003 s/c'd shamu sold for $12k (or less, it was listed for $12k) on the classifieds here recently...

Well said. Never run anything less than premium on premium motors. My dads '08 escalade is a rare exception. We have been running 93+ octane since the day we got it. Even when gas hit $4.30 a gallon. Then I read up that 87 is perfectly safe to use in the motors. I started using 87 and the motor is still running fine with the same gas mileage. The '08 Escalade now has 113,000 miles and going strong with regular octane (Saving over $150 per month by making the switch).

Like I said though, this is a rare exception. the S/C HD is another story. I remember one day my mother put 87 in the truck the ONE day I let her borrow it, and that sucker was pinging like no other.

Run 87, and you will blow her up.

If you take off the gay chrome/wood accents then this looks in pretty good shape
