Question Putting Back On Stock Gas Door? Help needed

I removed my after market billet door and went to put back on the stock door. It appeared to be really simple but....
it only has two screws and two mounting holes but when I close it, the door is about 1/2 inch too far towards the rear of the ruck. What's up with this. I can't figure out what I could do different. Any help?

I don't know I just pushed it and probably bent it back to where it should be. It just seemed strange.
