i just got a 02 HD two weeks ago, and now that im on this forum i've been hearing alot about the oil seperator. im pretty sure its self explanatory but what is the purpose of the seperator and is it really needed? thanks in advance for any help

basically when you drive the truck, and drive it hard (make it whine ;)) when you let off the gas pedal, oil gets sucked up through the PCV system and soaks the intake tract and COATS the intercooler in oil, reducing performance, reducing the effective octane rating of the gas, and basically making your nice truck run worse than it could.
I run the L&S separator on my truck, and fully recommend it to anyone else

I would recommend pulling and cleaning out everything above the intercooler (pull the supercharger) to get everything nice and clean when you install a separator.

I just bypassed my system. Some think it's a great idea others do not. I know I have zero oil now and my truck runs just fine.
i followed the link u sent me and noticed that my truck has that already installed..like i said i just got the truck two weeks ago and was wondering what that was on top of the oil cap, thanks for the help Blind...this is what my truck has.
