    Tun=better mpg?

I've read that some adjust there tune to get better gas mileage. I just have a 6lb lower with intake. What can I ask my tuner to adjust to get a little better gas mileage. I can don't care to much about the mpg. But I am just curious as to what some people are doing. I get 7.5mpg when getting on it for a tank. I even driven without getting in boost for a whole tank and I got 10.5 mpg. Thanks

I don't know about adjusting the tune to produce the most mpg.
I would have thought that having it in the best state of tune would give you the best results.

You need to make sure that everything is spot on (plugs, fuel filter, clean air filter etc), make sure your tyres are at the correct pressure, remove any unwanted weight from the bed and most importantly, adjust your driving style to get good mpg.

In all honesty, the HD is the wrong vehicle for economy but I can get 15-18mpg easily from mine on a decent run.

Of course, if you drive it like you stole it, single digit figures are easily available.

Im averaging 13 stock. Depending on your tune now, it should be just as good.

If your getting that low of mileage, Id think something else is wrong with your truck. Unless you've just got a horrible tune. Ive seen built trucks doing better than that. I get about 11city/15hwy. Even on a previous tune, that was WAY rich I was still getting better that you are.

Where is your tune from by the way?

How many miles on the truck?
What kind of maintenance has been done?
I would start with the typical tune up stuff - Sea Foam, air filter, fuel filter etc and see where you are at from there.
Mine is at about 50K on the motor and gets 17 highway if I stay at 70.

I've gotten 19mpg on the highway pulling a trailer with two bikes...but I was very gentle on the foot peddle.

I got 16mpg hwy, then put in a Predator tune which helped out WOT power when into it, but mpg cruising is still 16ish+. Around town, my mpg is trash. Either your right foot is heavy or there is a tune issue. :-)

I have 60k miles and I changed oil an airfilter. I'm going to change the fuel filter. I put new plugs when I did the pulley about 2000 miles ago

if you're getting 7.5 to 10 mpg something is wrong with your truck. clean the intercooler, do all the regular maintenance, change the fuel filter, and replace your O2 sensors.

I have a stock 03 HD with K&N CAI (unless they come with this from the factory) and I get 270 miles to a tank of gas. Is this normal?

I've been at 305 before I've stopped for fuel and yes the needle was on E.

Does this mean I need a tuneup or does the MPG drop over time with mileage? I'm at about 83K miles, so is this normal for a truck with that mileage?

When was the last time you did a tune up?

Plugs, filters (air/fuel etc), fluids (oil/tranny etc)

Have you ever pulled and cleaned the intercooler?
