I believe they have less costly units that "most" features can be added as a module.

That would be a good option for me. Many of the features on the 9980 I would never use. I'll look into that for sure! Thanks for the tip.

My stereo guy suggested a JVC unit - a little less costly than some.
I didn't need GPS, but added BU cam, HD & Sirius radio.
You can get them with GPS. Been installed 2 years now, great sound & no issues. Also has removable face and plays DVD's.

Or this is a 2011 model but only a 6.1" screen instead of 6.5" like the Excelon models above.

Got a Kenwood DNX6960 last Feburary from an authorized internet retailer. It's a 2010 Excelon Model with built-in Garmin Navigation, Bluetooth (Parrot), iPod/iPhone/MP3 Connection, USB Music Streaming, Front Panel A/V Input & Output Connections and SD Card. Also has three 5V preamp outputs (front/rear/sub) and crossover system. Have seen good prices on new and refurbed Kenwood and Other Brand In-Dash Car GPS Navigation, Audio/Video & Bluetooth HU's @ Sonic Electronix.

Do you have an iPhone or Android phone?

I have been considering the new Pioneer AppRadio 2.

Uses the apps on your smartphone. Navigation, music, photos, etc.

Alpine W-505 with blue tooth addition and blackbird GPS

FYI: Before purchasing, just know that it's 15watts X 4. If you want the usual 45-50 watt for your alpine, remember to buy the amp add on! Alpine add on amp makes the stereo now a true bad *** head unit!

Another cool feature that my alpine w-505 has that I like is when the Bluetooth is connected via iPhone, ect.... How It retrieves EVERY call log and allows you to bring up your contacts all from the screen wirelessly AND effortlessly (if automatic connect feat. Is enabled).
