Question Installed FTVB ... have some questions ... not sure if running right ---

I put the FTVB 2c in my truck and I am not so sure I like it quite yet.

I cant seem to get it to shift from 1st to 2nd before 3000rpm , and with the speed limit being 35 around here in a lot of places , I have to let off to get it to shift and I am already speeding.

    Is this normal behavior?

Will it get better the more I drive it or is this what I will have to deal with from now on? Im not sure I am sending back my core quite yet ... ---

I just took it for a 10 mile drive ... ran it manually through the gears and hit the highway to get it up to speed , seems to be driving better.

I guess it may just take getting used to adjusting the gas pedal for shifts.

I might have been starting from a dead stop too aggressively so the shifts stayed delayed (higher rpm's) ... I will update the more I drive but I am a lot happier right now HAHAH ---

Did you leave the negative cable off while doing the install so you reset your ecu so It can relearn your shift patterns?

That's what they said to do with my punisher. I just put it in Wednesday. It had the shifts figured out within probably 5 miles stop and go driving. Hopefully that's all you need to do.

Leave the cable off for awhile then once you get out and drive it again be real easy on the gas and see what it does. Mine shifts at normal speeds just alot harder. I've heard it can take sometimes 100 miles of drivin for your computer to get used to it.

If the negative cable is taken off , it will make me reset the radio presets and tuning right?

Will the ecu learn even if I dont unplug the negative cable ... it will just take longer since it wont be starting from a clean slate? (is that why its getting better as I drive more ... so far I only have about 40 miles on it)---

Just the radio presets, not the tuning. Also not really, resetting the pcm like that puts the trans in "learn mode" along with letting the PCM relearn the new parameters. I.E. your new parts.

Check the transmission line pressure setting on your SCT tune and put it back to STOCK. The FTVB increases the line pressure mechanically while a tune can increase it electronically.

The two can conflict and may be the source of your trouble.

    Just thinking out loud....

Do the SCT tunes mess with the transmissions?

Its the "canned" stock 93 tune ... but it has no choices for tranny options at all on the unit, like I heard the Diablo Predators do.

I will ask the mechanic if the SCT changes tranny stuff.

I just unhooked the negative .... I will let you guys know how it goes after I drive it for awhile.

    Thanks ---

Did you replace the filter? If so, did you remove the plastic cap before you installed the new valve body?

Yes I replaced the filter and put a new Derale Pan on ... it took a lot more fluid than the stock pan did.

The plastic cap was removed. Thanks for the options ---

I am a LOT happier now though , thank you guys for the help!!! ---
