Hellwig Rear Sway bar installed - What a difference

I just had a Hellwig rear sway bar installed today, part # 7821 and all I can say is wow, what a difference. Doesn't even feel like I am driving a truck anymore. Tight as can be. My truck is not lowered at all, recently had lightning spec billsteins all around which seemed to make the ride a bit nicer but with the rear Hellwig sway bar, I immediately noticed a major difference. Apparently its 144% stiffer than a stock rear sway bar on a lightning (as you know, we dont have one on the Harleys).

I am thinking that I am also going to do the front as well which is 105% stiffer than our stock one. I cant wait to try that out.

Anyway, if anyone is looking for a good mod to do, I would highly recommend it. Bought mine from summit racing.

Great mod for sure. We have the front on right now and the rear sitting in the attic (just need to get around to putting it on). The ride difference is amazing with just the front installed...can't wait to get around to doing the rear.

    Merlin,

The second one you posted, 7821. The other one is for lowered trucks that are lowered 4 inches I believe.

yep makes a big difference since these trucks came with a heavy duty front sway, yet NO rear sway.

I've been looking at the Hotchkis TVS I've found on eBay, but there appears to be two kits for F150's and I can find out for sure if either will fit the HD. I've also read the comparison for Hotchkis vs Hellwig, and the Hellwig is solid vs hollow.

So is it a consensus that a good setup to get would be Hotchkis front and rear, then Lightning Bilstein (still trying to find a 4 piece kit on eBay) shocks on all 4 corners?

I'm not sure if I wanna go lowered yet since I'm still town between wheel choices, but from what I understand, I can still lower w/ the Hellwigs and Bilsteins.

EDIT - Here is a search for "Hellwig F150 sway"...how in the hell does someone decide, I just want a matching front and rear setup? - http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=...ries&Make=Ford

No our trucks do not come stock with Bilsteins.
If you want a race ready ride go with the Lightning spec Bilsteins.
If you don't have a good dental plan but like a firm and a little more forgiving ride then go with the SuperCrew spec Bilsteins.

I bet Mike at MADenterprises can get you either ones for the best price.

Search other threads on here for part numbers if you are going to DIY. There is a lot of info on the Bilstein shocks and Helwig and Hothckis packages that fit our trucks. It's great that you can even find the stuff new any more these days.

I just paid struck a deal for a 7626 front and 7821 rear for $400 shipped...but I haven't paid yet as I'm going to work Lightning Bilstein's into the deal. I'd like some clarification as well, but I'm always at work, so it's hard for me to call and confirm all part numbers. Since you we're emailing w/ them, you should have asked. I'm on their site now and while all the diameters are the same, it is true that it calls out the 7621. Searching for the sway on eBay, the 7621 is $23.75...but clearly the OP had no issue using the 7821, so I'm curious as to the differences.

Can anyone verify which is the proper Bilstein part # as well for the Lightning shocks? Doing searches for these trucks is all over the place...I knew getting a Ford would kill me on trying to find specifics sometimes

called Hellwig and one of their engineers is going to call me back. I did find out from the person who I spoke to that the diameter of the 7621 and 7821 is the same.

    stay tuned

    Hi James,

The 7621 and 7821 use the same exact sway bar, the only difference is the
mounting kits. The Lightning was only ever a 2 wheel drive truck and it's
lower than other F150s while the Harley Davidson Edition Super crew is
normal height. There are a few other little differences on brake line
routing and wiring. The main difference between the kits is the 7621 has
slightly longer end links. I would recommend going with the 7621 which is
what is called out for your truck although the 7821 will most likely fit,
the bar ends won't be as parallel to the ground since the end links will be
too short. On Summit Racing the price difference between the two kits is
only $6 which I think is worth it to have the best fit.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

    Ben Knaus

My reply to him was asking if either is more beneficial to have vs the other for the chance I decide to lower the truck more...just waiting for a reply.

I'd still like input from those who've done the Lightning Bilstein shocks as well. I'm finding two different sets (20 actually, but I think I'm narrowing it down), which are either Heavy Duty or Sport Series...Sports being slightly stiffer than the Heavy Duty's.
