bag and tag everthing....take pictures of anything you think you may forget where it goes. Take you time and do it right the first time. If anyone is in your area that has done this before, call them to give you a hand. Use the info on the boards for a reference or jump online if you get stuck. Check out the other boards available for info also.

PM Harley356 as he has done a lot of engine swaps and a few builds.

Check those other sites too and see if anyone is close to you that has some experience and can give you a hand.

The starter bolts are not fun. Extensions and u-joints will be your friend.

Edit - I am assuming you are pulling the motor with the heads on and re-installing the motor with the heads on? If not, and you are using ARP head studs, I believe you need to thread the head studs into the block while the heads are sitting on the block.

you can actually go through the fender well to get the top 2 starter bolts out, no problem at all.... just an extension and a wobble socket........ just a little mechanic secret!!!!!!!!

Thats where I went thru, but the starter is still a ways back there. This was in my old Lightning, and I am just going off of memory from almost three years ago.

i usually use a 24" extension and a matco wobble 13mm socket and they come right out of there, no need to take the wheel off, assuming you can jack the vehicle up high enough, (if done at home, drive way etc.)
