    Towing MPG

    Hi all;

    Just got a new 18' boat that I started towing. I estimate it at about 3500+lbs. I'm getting 10 mpg while towing driving at 70mph which I think may be too low. Normally I get 12-13 mpg city and 14 mpg HWY. For those of you that tow, what is your MPG? Is 10 that out of line? Thanks.

    I am also getting 10 MPG when towing. I usually get 15-16 on the highway going 70mph. My truck is bone stock. I could not believe how much the MPG went down. This is all I was towing.

    I get 10.5 city all the time, I'd think that 10 with a boat is pretty good.

    i haul with my truck all the time 10,000lbs and down i haul 4-6 4wheelers at a time to diffrent events. mine varies from 8-11mpg depends eather going with the wind or not. and type of load if its positioned correctly on the trailer and or something causing major wind restriction. if you want to see a huge improvment in mpg while towing fold your bimini top down flat with the boat. you be surprized on how much fuel you will save if your getting 10 youll prolly go to 11 maybe 12. nice boat btw

    So everybody gets 10 and you get 19 towing? Where those bikes like the ones with motors in it? You are lucky man. Not even when new with no mods my truck got anywhere close to 19. I guess I may have to live with it. It sucks that the boat fuel bill is $40 and the truck is $80 just getting nearby. Hey, but at least I look cool with it

    i towed my buddys tacoma to a carshow this weekend.. idk how i did fuel wise other than gettin about 260 to a tank when the light came on.. but when i hit a bump the driveshaft kept hitting a crossmember.. its a stock height truck on 22s but i did notice that i was missing a bump stop in the rear maby thats my issue.. we loaded the truck further back on the way home and that helped some but still bottomed out a few times
    didnt know if anyone else has had this problem ...

    Ok. So I guess this us normal. Still sucks.

    dragginNCrds; Before towing mine bottomed out sometimes at bumps or deep road indentations with my 4+in drop at the rear . While towing it did it a little more often. I raised the rear lowering shackle one hole and is much better now. Picture above is before rising it.
