    alignment problem?

I took my harley in to get it aligned and the shop told me that i'd have to purchase a camber kit because Ford didnt put any adjustability in these trucks from the factory. Sounds crazy to me that it would come from the factory not being able to be aligned. Is this true? do i have to purchase an additional almost 200 in parts to be able to align my truck? If that is the case you may see it posted in the classifieds very soon.....

pretty much..the angles were locked in with cut washers/spacers.....at least for caster and camber...

toe in out can be via tie rods....

I put close to 90k miles on my truck before I went in for an alignment and opted for prefered Lightning Specs and needed cam bolts to get that spec dialed in.

200??? yeah if you buy them from ford....lol go to NAPA or Oriely's or advance auto etc and pick up a set.

we got our truck with 92k and put on brand new tires. its now at 113xxx and the front left is worn bad on the inside. what brand camber kit is the best to use? is any one kit really any better than others? I found a couple kits on summit racing for 25-35 for enough to do both sides. Thanks for the quick reply and help.

they all do the same ****, they are just oblong washers on bolts so as you turn it you can change the camber of the wheels to match whatever angle is needed for the alignment specs.

it's the same for pretty much any car ever sold, to get out of the factory rigid alignment specs camber kits are almost always needed.

Ford has 'em. Moog has 'em. Napa carries 'em. Approx $50-$70 a set of four.

This is what my front tires looked before getting them.

Tires cost too much. Get the cam bolts and washers.

at 113k bet the LCA ball joints are starting to wear out....and to compensate for that Camber bolts would be needed to get it back in spec.

or just replace the LCAs or just the Balljoints (both sides at same time)....if you go with Lower Ball Joint replacement only, make sure to get the +1 size ball joints for a snug fit....

check your LCA bushings that bolt in on the frame side. i just rebuilt the front end on my truck with 172k on it i over looked the sway bar bushings and the LCA bushings. its 20-30 bucks more for the complete LCA with new ball joint from moog.

other than that do the camber kit also saves you money in the long run.

changing the tie rods will require an alignment, they are the most critical part of the front alignment (they control toe angle).

I had Kumo's all around when I purchased my truck. IMHO They are junk.

In October 2010 I replaced UCA w/ZFR, cam bolts, clunk washers etc.
In May 2011 I replaced the brake pads and rotors w/ROTORPRO's.
While in there I replaced the front bearings inner, outer and seals.

I purchased Hankook's in May 2011 and have not had that problem since.
