woot, shipping was fairly stupid expensive, but it came fast
I swapped the cargo filament lights for LED's, 5 sided 194's, 5k temp.
5K WHITE 3 CHIP 5 LED LIGHT BULBS 194 168 158 2821 | 1 PAIR
Install looks like a PITA, looks like dropping the back of the headliner is a must so that will have to wait until this weekend, I work late all week
Good mod!
Looks great! Should be even better and brighter with those bulbs too.
IIRC It's not too bad dropping the headliner just at the rear. You can get to the connector by wiggling your arm up under it most of the way once you get it dropped a little. Just be careful not to bend it too much as it will crease.
I think it makes a big difference both in looks and performance on our trucks.
Before
After
I love it, and with those v-led's 5 chip 194 led's the entire bed lights up like daytime now.

and yes it was a PITA to swap without doing any damage. Took me about 20-30 minutes.
Unbolt the rear upper seatbelt attachment nuts
pop off the rear coat hangers and rear overhead lights
pull off the door frame rubber seal
pop the panel clips off that hold the headliner and rear side panels to the rear center panel
pop the rear side upper plastics off
drop the headliner and reach in from the passenger side to unplug the 3rd brake light from the roof harness
Now outside the truck unscrew the 2 screws holding the 3rd brake light on, and then pray out the rubber gasket on the wiring harness and it's time to put everything back together with the new light.
Not difficult, but very fiddly with a large risk to break clips if you go at it like a monkey. A panel pry tool was very handy for all of this to make sure you don't break any clips.
Good "show", Chuck! Glad you found this. I was hoping to find an aftermarket clone in order to do a couple iterations of "destructive testing" for my own custom application! Ha!
Thanks, I was hoping that others would read the LR thread and know it wasn't an OEM version but according to the pics looked real close.
I think Blind is well ahead of improving it with those LED bulbs to brighten things up.
Can't wait to see what you have in store for your version!
