Is your black paint the OEM stock color black?
If so, get the door color code and call Dr. Color Chip

I swear by their stuff. MUCH better than touch up paint!

Correct the paint chip BEFORE you do sealant or wax.

Now on the the new black repaint.

First, there are two totally different products
Natural Carnuaba wax and synthetic sealants
Synthetic sealants last longer than natural wax.

For a real shiny finish I use Zaino
Zaino is only available via the web.
The three products you will need are

Z-2 PRO Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Car Finishes
    ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator Additive
Z-6 Ultra Clean Gloss Enhancer Spray

For a real slick "Wet Look" finish I use
BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection

Both products have totally different "application" methods
Both products have totally different "looks" to them.

The Ultimate (for me) is 2-3 coats of BFWD followed by
Blackfire Midnight Sun paste wax applied over the BFWD
Sadly, this takes away the "slick feel" of BFWD but it adds depth.
This unique "look" is called "Wet Ice Over Fire" and it turns heads!

    NOTE:
You can apply a wax over a sealant
You should not apply a sealant over a wax.

Now on to the products longevity/Durability...
IMHO Zaino Z-2 w/ZFX lasts longer that BFWD
Applying Z-2/ZFX is more difficult but worth it.
The BFMS wax lasts a couple of weeks outside.
The BFWD/BFMS combo is my "show car" look.

    COST:

    Zaino
Z-2, ZFX and Z-6 all three about $50
The Z-2 is only $15 and can be used by itself.
I recommend the ZFX to do 3 coats in one afternoon.
Z-6 is a Quick Detailing product to keep the surface clean.

    BLACKFIRE
Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection is $40
I suggest a Blackfire Quick Detailer (QD) to keep paint clean.
IMHO this depends on you choice of the BFWD or BFWD/BFMS choice.
If you're going with just the BFWD then I'd suggest BFWD Polymer Spray
If you're doing the BFWD/BFMS combo I'd suggest the BF Midnight Sun Instant Detailer
    If this help you choose...
BFWD Polymer Spray is very shiny finish but it's not really intended to be a QD.

Now that you have a bit more info..let me know what you choose before you order.
Oh I almost forgot. You WILL need at least six QUALITY microfiber towels not the Auto-Parts store kind.

    Ending...
Do you know the two bucket method for washing you paint?

Hey Merlin, thanks for the info, I would like a deep black color with a nice mirror finish, lol, I really don't mind the upkeep, but can usually only do it on the weekends, now for the bad news, where i work at the parking lot where I park is paved, but the shop lot is covered in crushed rock ,when it gets dry it tends to cover all the cars in rock (granite) dust,I don't typicically wipe it or anything during the week, jus on fridays or saturday, I do a one dedicated wash 5 gal screw top bucket with a grit guard in the bottom with a synthetic lambs wool ( i think) mitt, I use quality detailing stuff not the off the shelf car wash, the name I can get for you tomorrow if you like, it's in the truck, lol. The bfwd stuff sounds good, if it's good enough for you, it's good enough for me,I will gladly apply any suggestions, LOL I appreciate the time to explain it to me.

I created a thread on the Two Bucket Wash Method to help you keep you truck clean and swirl free.

I suggest you invest in a truck cover for work. For some reason crushed granite rock fallout and nice paint don't mix.

LOL, I totally agree, I'll pick up another bucket and grit guard, would like to get a pc 7424 since i saw the "junkman" do the DA thing on you tube it looks safe for me to use, lol. Now, since the budget is a litle tight right now, would you suggest off the shelf Mequires ultimate polish and wax's until I can do a little better? I have a botle of ultimate polish ,just need tp pickup some wax and some MF towels. Thanks, really for all your help Merlin, you are a true asset to the community, wish I lived closer, I'd just hire you, LOL

Currently the Griot's Garage 6" Random Orbital DA polisher is outperforming the Pc7424xp in power and it has a lifetime warranty.
The "Drunkman" DA videos have been on youtube for some time now. I believe he goes into drawn out detail about the PC 7424xp.

The "new" Megs Ultimate line although "consumer" products are pretty darn good. Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish & Ultimate Wax.
The Megs Ultimate Wax comes in both liquid and paste. It is NOT a wax. It is a synthetic polymer. They both are the SAME product.
Ultimate Liquid Wax will not stain trim and is easier to apply & remove. If you want a Wax on/Wax off therapy experience get the paste.

If you lived closer I'd do if for FREE! One condition...you have to help. I have done this for many NHTOC folks and I try to make it fun.
I try to teach what I'm doing & why..then you get to do it. If you bring a lawn chair, a cooler, a case of beer and sit & watch me all day.
You WILL get a bill! It's kinda my version of a GTG but rather than turning wrenches and getting dirty we polish paint and make things shiny.
