every time i run over a bump or a crappy paved road the front end of my truck makes rattle noises, i was wondering if i needed new shocks or what ever it is. Not sure, and need advise on what brand to buy too. thanks people

Rattling noises could be a number of things, not limited to the following: end links, control arm bolts, bumper bolts, tie rods, sway bar, etc. You will need to isolate each side of the front of the truck (typically by lifting) and check for play in any component. Shocks usually don't rattle (it's more of a knocking). You would also typically notice an excessive amount of bouncing after going over bumps if your shocks were going bad. I'm not expert, but I hope this gets you going. I'm sure the experts will chime in soon.
ok appreciate the HD Dreamer, yeah it aint a knocking noise. its more of metal clinging..lol. like there aint no rubber bushings
probably something bouncing around, perhaps a fastener came loose - any recent work done?
If is stock front suspension? ... Check front sway-bar bushings for wear. They quickly wear and will actually realize rubber slipping out! ... leaving metal-to-metal rattle.
no recent work done but i appreciate all the info guys thank you
If it happens when you are turning, I'd have to ask if you have clunk washers installed yet?

Remove the belt and start engine. If noise goes away, then it is coming from one of the pulleys on the accessories, thus eliminating a vacuum leak on the engine.
