    Tweeter Placement

Alright, I have searched and searched, and can't seem to find much of anything on this subject. Now that said, I have seen a few pics of guys stereo installs, and a few different tweeter locations. My question is what is the best sounding location. Originally I was thinking about mounting them in the "C" location (see picture) but lately I have seen a lot of new cars with them mounted in the "A" location pointed almost right at the windshield. I don't think "B" would work all that great just be cause this spot on the driver door is so small and angled weird. Plans for the front speakers are the Focal K2 5 1/4 component (obviously), and likely a coaxial Focal in the rear doors if I can find any to fit, if not then Focal Polyglass components.

Any thoughts/experience on these tweeter locations? Would love to hear from you guys...

I had mine mounted in the b location. Wasn't bad for imaging, but looked like crap IMO cause they didn't sit flush. I now have them mounted in the c location in all 4 doors. Looks better and I feel the imaging is better. Only problem is cutting up you door panels. I've heard of guys putting the tweeters near the mid in the door were the speaker mounts.

I thought about this as well, like on a plate, but not really an option IMO, cause they are just plain placed to low and pointing at my knee....

I have them in the B position on my 2000 4x4 and the Boston Acoustics fit pretty flush.

The imaging is real good as it is closer to the ears then the JL Audio components in the doors of my HD.

They look like they are sticking out far in these pics but only because the door is open.

They are so far forward that they don't get in the way when getting in and out.

Maybe I should have taken a shot with the door closed because if you notice the body line in the plastic, that's where the door panel blends into the dash when the door is closed and the tweeters basically sit on top of the dash and face the seats.

Here's the JL Audio coaxial components with cross-overs that I have in the 4 doors of the HD.

Rich, did you get new door panels when you moved yours? Never noticed you had them there before.

My Raptor has them in the "A" position from the factory, and it's nice because they're pretty far out of sight since they sit flush. The "C" position isn't bad though, it looks cool there, and if you do switch down the road, the most your out is getting that area of the door panel reupholstered to cover the hole. If you do the "B" position, you're stuck with a hole there forever.
