Thoughts on this fellas?
NEVER EVER EVER buy from RPM outlet!
Do a search for "outlet" and I"m sure a lot of threads will pop up. Not a single good one either!
Also that kit has a lot of unnecessary parts. Do some searching first and you'll get a good idea of the basic mods to start off with.
RPM outlet is under new ownership, and from what I hear, is doing much better.
Stay away from the BBK intake in that package. The inlet tube is SMALLER than the MAF. You can kinda see in the pic, the MAF coupler is smaller diameter on the inlet end. I had one on my old truck, and I think it had something to do with my tuning issues with my old MP setup.
Dont need the coil packs in the package either. Stockers are best.
Browse classifieds and you can find almost anything you want for less. I have purchased all of my parts from members on NHTOC, NLOC, LR and LG.
Even bought my HD from a member on LG
I'm still learning about performance parts but I just want something to start off that will make my truck sound meaner and more horsepower
Cai will make the blower more audible
The basic starting mods are Pulley, Plugs and Tune. (PP&T)
I personally went with:
6lb lower (more conservative and safer) and you'll need a new belt
Most folks here use NGK-TR6 (colder plugs) the NGK TR6IX or BR7EF
Diablo Predator tuner or SCT (whatever your dyno guy prefers to use)
Most CAI's do not do much unless you're over 400 hp (I did mine for looks)
If I remember correctly all that was under $500
Here's a little sumpin' I thought I'd throw out there...http://www.kennebell.net/KBWebsite/C...AirWARNING.pdf
What Kenne went on to say was that the HD was "designed" with fender well intake to bring in cold "outside" air.
The OEM "design" took hundreds of hours to design and redesign in order for the stock air box to work correctly.
It's good reading and a intended just for a little food for thought and an alternate view point...please don't slam me.
Here's a quote "WARNING: It's an accepted known fact that any engine makes more power on cold air than hot air.
Use of this product negatively alters the "cool air" design of the stock OEM inlet system and instead inhales underhood
"hot air." This device reduces air density (HP and torque), increases the engines tendency to knock/detonate/ping which
can result in lost power and potential engine damage, especially with superchargers or turbos."
