    Brake Fluid Type

Okay guys I am going to do a brake fluid flush on my truck and wanted to see what type of fluid you guys use. I can't buy the fancy smancy high dollar fluid so wanted some input from you guys. Is dot 4 compatible with our trucks? Should I stick with dot 3 high temp? Or should I go with regular dot 3? Any input will help.

    Thanks in advance.

I swapped mine to DOT4 Motoblue fluid. Great stuff, could really tell a difference in the peddle. They don't make a blue anymore but you can get the clear/yellow stuff.

Okay, so nothing wrong with running DOT4 fluid. Hopefully the weather clears up so I can flush it out. I just got me the Motive bleeder kit and anxious to try it out.

Love my motive bleeder, easily turned one of the biggest PITA jobs to do right, into a walk in the park.

Did my brake flush this past weekend and worked out great with my Motive Bleeder. Have to agree with you on that one. Like a walk in the park. I need to do my other vehicles now and have to find some adapter kits to fit. Hopefully don't have to buy a new Motive bleeder kit for my other vehicles.

they sell different caps or adaptors for other vehicles so you only need 1 bleeder, and then just use the different caps. I have both the one for my truck, and the adaptor plate for early model vehicles with the large open lid (my '85 F150).

I know that the metal cap that came with my bleeder also fits my mom's Nissan. So I believe the caps have several different applications; so you might luck out and only have to get one.

Pedal went to the floor this morning so im gonna try a fluid flush. the reservoir is definitely low. truck has 77k miles and fluid has never been changed.

is this the right motive for our trucks. there is the 2 prong and 3 prong ford application. this one is the 3

EDIT: after some more searching i found its the 3 prong needed.

I would check all of your brake line fittings for signs of leaks if the pedal went to the floor.

    Brake Fluid Type

Upon further inspection. The puddle in my garage is not from the torrential downpour we had yesterday it is brake fluid.

Is it bad to drive about 5 miles with no brake fluid in your system.
