Oh forgive me, all I see you posted in this thread is 'stock location'

For all I knew, you have a flowmaster 10 series exiting in the stock location ;)

I went and got emissions done on a base tune, deleted precats and EGR, running stupidly fat and lumping away the whole time...still passed Most places nowadays read OBDII, so as long as you've got no CEL, you're gold.

No, I'm in WA, but I'd imagine testing can't be that much different nowadays. I can't remember the last time they shoved a sensor in the exhaust, did a visual, etc...now they just ask for the VIN, plug into the OBDII port and we're off.

Last time I did a smog here they plugged into the OBD and put a sniffer in the tail pipe, then run it on a dyno. Plus anything and everything aftermarket on the engine must be stamped with a CARB compliment tag.

Last time I checked headers are a BIG no no, and no cats? Yikes.

So unless the area Blind lives in is like El Centro where they don't enforce emissions, he's got a friend at a shop. 😈

nope, I just swap the headers and mid pipe every 2 years back and forth. It's very easy to do longtubes on these trucks.

And in CA they do sniffer + obd. The shop I went to this year told me that it's most likely the next time I smog the truck in 2 years that it will be obd only, he's pissed that he will have ~$30k in useless equipment and will need to invest another $10k into the new stuff to stay up to code. Only cars older than 1996 will continue to be tested with the sniffer.

Eeak, what a PIA, but worth it in the long run too. You have to do tune then too?

Yup, good 'ole California....or I should say CARB. Same kinda BS crap they've been doing to commercial trucks here for years. Main reason I got out of that field.

The California Air Resource Board is nothing but a bunch of bureaucrats getting fatter pockets and not helping the overall environment. At least not in a way that helps to contribute to small businesses. But this is for another thread, sorry guys, I still harbor some bad feelings there.

Also sorry for the tread jack, feel free to take it back now...lol

nah, I did that the first time but ended up having to drive around for 2 weeks for the OBD readiness monitors to reset (changing tune resets the ecu). Now I just swap the exhaust in the morning, drive it over, smog it, get lunch, then swap it back...lol
